  Greenlee slick handle length?
Posted by: Blacky's Boy - 04-26-2024, 08:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (7)

I had this 3" slick sitting in a bucket of rusty tools and decided that I wanted to restore it. I soaked it in Evaporust overnight and then wire wheel brushed it off. I was pleasantly surprised that it had a maker's mark that read "Greenlee". that I need to make a new handle for. I have an idea for the pattern, but I need to know how long to make the handle.

Any help here?

$300.00

Moving from a large basement workshop to half of a garage workshop and have 4 larger machines I no longer have room for.  This is machine #3, standard 110V, with a #2 Morse taper with a 1" headstock and 5 step belt system for speed adjustments.  This lathe is great for bowl and platter turning, especially on the larger size with the outboard capability with the outboard arm attachment.  I'm also including a sphere cutting attachment and the base is mobile with 4 Great Lake casters, self-leveling light-medium stem casters, rated at 600lbs...This weighs far less than that.

Pickup only in Ellicott City, MD 20774 prior to 5/16/24

***price reduction***FS: Lobo dual head pneumatic drum sanders
Posted by: joelk4032 - 04-26-2024, 02:06 PM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - No Replies

$195.00

Moving from a large basement workshop to half of a garage workshop and have 4 larger machines I no longer have room for.  This is machine #1, standard 110V.  These pneumatic drums can hog off some wood.  Have two working pneumatic drums and a variety of sanding sleeves included.  I also built a mobile unit for it that is included.  I never bolted it down, which it probably should be and is easy enough to the mobile base plywood, I would just rest one foot on the front cross brace towards the bottom and that did the trick for me.

Pickup only in Ellicott City, MD before 5/16.

  Stanley #80
Posted by: tablesawtom - 04-24-2024, 06:21 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (11)

I bought a Hock scraper blade scraper from Lee Valley for my Stanley #80. I was wondering because It is a lot thicker than the standard blade, cost a lot more too. I rolled a slight burr and took it for a spin on some red Oak. I like it very much, actually I am quite impressed. I am hoping it will hold an edge a lot longer. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

  mulch options for grass seed
Posted by: DogwoodTales - 04-24-2024, 01:33 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (24)

What are some more 'affordable' options for mulching new grass seed besides hay? There's peat moss, but that stuff would be expensive.
Would cellulose insulation work, or is the fire retardant added to that toxic for grass?
Any other viable ideas?
thanks

  Hinge Question
Posted by: Ridgeway - 04-23-2024, 02:17 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (3)

I am making a card table with a circular top approx. 33" in diameter and 7/8" thick.  The top will be cut down the middle and fold over on itself (rather than down).  So when the table is open, the hinges will be visible and flush with the surface.

Is there a rule of thumb for the size of the hinges?  Also, any recommendation on brands?
