Just what the title says..
A Stanley No. 8c...has docked beside a Stanley No. 7c...
Afraid the "Sterns" don't quite line up..
The No. 7c has 2 patent dates,,,either a type 9, or a type 10...
Speaking of 2 Jointers...
Middle shelf...a Stanley No. 6 and a Stanley No. 6c...shelf above has a Stanley No. 8, smooth sole...
I tend to have the Jointers in pairs....one a smooth sole, the other not...The Smooth soled version of that Stanley No. 7c? Is from Ohio Tool Co. No. 0 7

I have been wanting a workshop for quite a while and I finally started a little over a year ago. The only thing left to do is the concrete pad in front of the doors. Size is 40 by 60 ft with 2 by 6 studs. Exterior is Hardy Board panels with board and batten. Inside ceiling height is 12 ft with metal ceilings panels and also metal on the top 4 ft of walls. Bottom 8 ft of walls is Smartside siding. On the left side of the building have a kitchen area as well as another room that can be used as a bedroom or craft room. Also in the back corner, I have a 10 by 13ft storage room.
I did a lot of the work on it myself to save money. All the painting inside and out, put up the metal ceiling, installed the Smartside siding, installed all doors(except garage doors), installed all trim, installed the t and g ceiling on the porch, etc. It was a lot of work, but I think it allowed me to have a nicer shop than I would have otherwise been able to afford. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Working on a Brent Comber - inspired bench for the front porch. I've always admired his work, but never had the material to work with. But after clearing a few dozen trees for a garage build and hiring a portable sawmill, I was able to come up with a chunk of Doug Fir that is 14" high x 11" deep. Not quite as big as I would like, but plenty big enough to be a challenge. The original chunk was 7' long, and the sawyer estimated weight around 280 pounds. We used his excavator to get it as close to the front porch as we could, then muscled it on a dolly and moved it the rest of the way.
I marked the dimensions I wanted - about 5' long, with 15 degree angles on the end, and went to work. Track saw was used to score as deep as I could, then a Japanese pullsaw to finish the cuts on the ends. Then marked the arcs on the top and bottom and scored again with the track saw. Chipped waste out with a chisel, flattened with a jack plane, and finished up with a Rotex sander with 40 grit. Tearout is always an issue with Doug Fir, and this was no exception, but the sander took care of most of it.
Finished up the bottom of it today, and will try to finish the top tomorrow.
Shop WAS out of usable Lumber...was out and about this morning...decided to see IF my supplier was home...
Decided to buy 10 planks, again....at $3 per plank.....had to cut a few of the 10 footers down a bit....as they have to fit in the trunk of my Chevy Equinox..
1 x 6s..and 1 x4s...some of the five 1 x 4s were already at 6' long...tight fit, had to tilt the front seat forward a bit
there was also eight 1 x6 x6' planks in the pile...and, I think he also tossed in a few "shorts"..
That wide one? 3/4" x 8" x 39"...with a split running down the center...can alway rip the split, and re-glue?
Might be worth the trip, today? Should keep the shop busy for most of May? Merely spent $30....
Stay tuned...letting these sit and get used to the house..while the Single Brain Cell Sketch Up figures out a plan...Lumber is Ash, BTW...
Happened to go to the shop last evening..needed a few photos of..
Seems someone thought these were "Junk"...
While down there, I turned towards the Tool Cabinet...
This is the center of the 2 doors, from the outside...kind of busy?
And most have seen this wide view...details?
Of the door on the left side...just a few ready-to-use saws...look a bit lower..
Canvas roll is a full set of Irwin bits for the Brace drills...there is a square trying to hide....and that Breast Drill is a Goodell Pratt 477. It is more for the round shanked twist drill bits.
Wood shop is out of Lumber, at the moment....might try to go out, today...and correct that Problem..
