Also he tells you how to make the sled too. The forth one is something all will have to try.

New Front Door: Grille Options Are Driving Me Nuts
Posted by: David Stone - 11-09-2015, 07:30 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (4)

Well the one hing I hate about our back door is the divided light. It has the grill on the outside. Never again as its a royal pita to clean the grills catch and hold dirt and if you do decide to paint that's a pain too.

Our front door we went with a feather river fiberglass door with one of their stained glass inserts. Very nice door well made and painted easily. Just remember with fiberglass doors you need to use an oil based paint. Ours has been in for 4 years now and still looks like new over than a little chip where someone had the deadbolt out a little when the closed the door. I notice it after painting but no one else does...

  Wilcox Vise
Posted by: Rchan63 - 11-09-2015, 03:11 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - No Replies

After I posted about not buying anymore tools last week. I fell off the wagon . I found a 10" wide Wilcox bench vise (Modle231S??), after picking it up and putting it down 5-6 times it followed home with me. It has a pop up dog and a quick release. I'd tried to find some information but not coming up with much. Anyone know anything about the vise would be greatly appreciated.
I plan to restore it this winter any information restoring old vises would be appreciated too.

TIA

Richard

  Need help with dovetails
Posted by: stevensondrive - 11-09-2015, 12:52 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (6)

That precise project is why I bought the Leigh 24" jig. As I see it, you have two options: First, learn to cut dovetails by hand. Second, buy a 24" jig.

Put a WTB post down in S&S - they've been coming up for sale recently.

  Handle for McNaughton Center Saver
Posted by: Dusty Workshop - 11-09-2015, 12:34 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (4)

I know I bought a handle some years back....... I just don't recall from who

Because the head of the handle, to make the blades swapable, would have to be metal, if I was doing my own I would be tempted to make a separate handle for each blade.

I know the handles today (MK-8) are smaller then the handles of "yore". Actually I don't use the handle for the regular set at all, but instead I use the handle off the smaller set. Which appears to be the size of the handle now shipping with the Mk8

I know some of the "pros" use no handle at all, they just hold the blade perfectly right and have no issues.
