Thanks John - and Rob - this is going in my notebook! Regarding the old FWW mags: I bought the first 36 issues about a year ago on ebay. What a great resource they have been.

It looks like it.

Quote:

Add these lightfast metal-complex dyes to clear lacquer, shellac, waterbase or catalyzed finishes. They can be reduced with water or alcohol for use on bare wood, and mixed for any desired intensity. One 2-ounce bottle makes two quarts of stain.

They have other products with the same name too.

two slotted screws in the oblong slots on either side.

when you pull it you will find two plugs those are the locks, don't lose them

unless you must I would leave the roll pins in place .

  Turning is Magnetic?
Posted by: AgGEM - 11-08-2015, 01:52 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (4)

magnetism works for my spellchecker.

Some steels get magnetized easily. I am told that even storing them on a mag bar can do it.

It is no big deal. It can even be helpful in reminding us to anchor (as in Anchor-Bevel-Cut).

The one downside that I know of is that grinding dust can stick to the tool and then rub off on the wood when you are cutting. The metallic dust is not good for finishes. So just wipe the dust off after sharpening.

  More CNC questions

I have a Shopbot PRS Alpha 60 X 96 with a tool changer at work.
I'm not sure what you mean about a vertical CNC. Are you talking about movement on the Z axis?
I might be able to answer some of your questions about the toolchanger. What do you want to know?

  Replacing tile grout
Posted by: KC - 11-08-2015, 10:06 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (5)

Remove tile. Rent the floor buffer with the carbide tips from HD (for large areas) or get the cup grinder and have a go at it. All tools rentable at HD. We removed 3K SF of ceramic tile set with epoxy type thinset. The floor buffer was the only tool we could use for the finish clean up and it worked well. Be prepared for dust!
