Replacement bags for JET 1.5 Mobile Cyclone Dust Collector
Posted by: Johnny Currado - 11-11-2023, 09:37 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (11)

I just purchased a brand new Jet JCDC-1.5 Mobile Cyclone Dust collector and I am looking for replacement bags.  What brands is everyone purchasing?  Is there any after market brands and where are you purchasing them from?

  Walker-Turner 16" Bandsaw band reco's
Posted by: doobes - 11-11-2023, 09:33 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (5)

Morning all.

Wanting to query the knowledgebase here about blades for my Walker-Turner 16" Bandsaw.

This saw has been in storage for some 2 1/2 years due to a new house build/relocation. I recently got her unpacked, and reassembled and all is good. Glad to have her back running. In packing, I discarded all my old nasty blades.

What's the current thought of a blade for this saw? It's got a low speed (1800 rpm) 1 HP motor on it.

I'll use it predominantly for light ripping. Stuff 2" thick and under, all dried wood, nothing green. Will be the odd cross cut.

I've got a 12" Craftsman bandsaw to use for the squiggly stuff.

Recommendations for size, style and source would be greatly appreciated.

Our son and daughter in law are looking at a house that has Pushmatic circuit breakers/box.
Google is helpful, but wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge.

  some CNC upgrades
Posted by: Juss1 - 11-09-2023, 10:19 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (18)

I've been thinking about upgrading my 1.25hp Makita router on my cnc to a spindle and finally pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago.  Initially I was thinking about getting a higher end German model but the sticker shock I got after requesting a quote had me quickly changing my mind.  I ended up getting a a generic model that you get at the jungle or other places.  In fact I suspect it's the same model that many other CNC companies like Laguna or Next wave uses.  At least in their consumer / prosumer models.  The cnc is 2.2kw 3HP and is water cooled.  Instead of getting a regular water pump I got a water "chiller".   Although it's more heat transfer unit as it doesn't really have any refrigerant.  Just a set of radiator type coils.  It does have an alarm though when it senses the flow stop.  The VFD and chiller are hooked up to one switch and the Dust collector is on another.   I just finished making a new spoilboard for it (although I kind of regret the dog positions and will change those when I make a new one).  I also make a spoilboard for my spoilboard
Smile which are held down by bolts into threaded inserts.  I'm still trying out different clamping options.  Right now I'm really liking the wedge method or the composite nails.  Big thanks to jteneyck for answering my electrical related questions.  Still need to work on my cord management but so far I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Buying a big drill press tomorrow. What should I look for?
Posted by: blanning - 11-09-2023, 10:10 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (16)

It's a 2000 series Rockwell drill press with a VFD.  There's not a lot of info online about them.  Other than bearing noise or runout, is there anything I should check for before buying?

Transporting it should be the wrong kind of exciting.  lol

They're asking $1100 which sounds like a good deal compared to what I think are comparable machines.

Shocked forced hot water heating system...
Posted by: varkpilot - 11-09-2023, 03:36 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (7)

..three zones.

second floor....can't control the heat.  my voltmeter says zero when I touch the red wire/common.  shouldn't it be about 24v??  checked second floor zone valve  in basement and it's 27v.

a bad wire from zone valve to 2nd floor thermostat ??

how can I shut off the heat to second floor?  my gas bill = the national debt!!!  [Image: shocked.png]

first floor thermostat say 24v and controls heat very well.

  Uses for radial arm saw
Posted by: Randy C - 11-08-2023, 07:21 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (33)

My father died 2 years ago and he had a craftsman radial arm saw. I am trying to decide what to do with this saw. I know that you can’t get much for them if you try to sell them. I am considering keeping it and putting it  in my new shop, but I don’t want to keep it just for the sake of keeping it.

Can anyone tell me what they use their radial arm saw for.  I have a compound miter saw but it is not a sliding saw, so I guess I could use the radial saw for making larger miter cuts but I’m not sure I need to make those cuts that often. So, if you have a radial saw can you tell me if you find it useful? Also, I seem to recall reading that radial arm saws are more dangerous than a table saw although I’m not sure why. Please enlighten me on the safety aspects of the radial saw if you know anything about it.

Thanks

I'm overseeing a fundraiser auction benefiting the 24th annual Texas Furniture Makers Show at the Kerr Arts & Cultural Center in Kerrville, Texas.

We have 24 great items donated by the makers and corporate sponsors such as Lie-Nielsen, Lee Valley, Ridge Carbide Tools, Woodcraft, and the Wood Whisperer.

Most can be shipped for an additional charge.

There are good deals to be had but more importantly all the proceeds go towards supporting this great event.

Here is the link to the auction ---> https://kacc.betterworld.org/auctions/TFMS2023

And more information about the Show. www.texasfurnituremakersshow.org

Thanks for your support.

Question ID This Rip Fence?
Posted by: grwold - 11-07-2023, 07:09 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (8)

Just this weekend I picked up a drill press with a custom table at an estate sale.  After getting the set home I found that an errant fence, I assume for a table saw, had hitched a ride as well.  Since the sale's over (and the table saw long gone), I cannot return the fence.  So, if y'all can help identify this fence, I'd like to put it down in S&S for shipping cost to anyone who could use it.

There are no logos or other identifying marks, beyond that one sticker about removing when crosscutting and the hardware itself.
