  Bathroom Lav Not Draining
Posted by: crokett™ - 01-26-2024, 01:08 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (10)

My wife reported her lavatory is not draining.  We have double sinks.  Mine is fine.  I used the Drain Weasel (plastic snake) and pulled some stuff out.  That didn't make a difference.  I pulled the trap off, it was clear.  I stuck the weazel up from the bottom, it came out relatively clean.  I tested with the trap off, it drained fine.  I put the trap back on and took the Oatey equivalent of the studor vent off, it drained fine.  My conclusion was a stuck/failed vent.  I got a new one, sink drains slow even with the new one.    I snaked the vent, it seems clear.  If it were plugged, I don't expect taking the vent cap off would make a difference.    The drain itself is a popup drain.  I unscrewed the stopper at the top of the drain that you push to open or close the drain and with the vent on it still drains slow.  Is there something in the drain or the sink body that would cause this? Plumbing and me don't get along well. I don't want to start guessing, I've already guessed wrong once.

Which "TYPE" Stanley planes should I keep.
Posted by: toolmiser - 01-25-2024, 08:56 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (8)

I've decided to thin the herd of my stanley planes.  I have multiples of various numbers.  My question is which ones are the best to keep?  Oldest, type #, corrugated, etc.  Probably going to keep a couple from each number.  Still hoping to get a #one some day.  Maybe if I sell a bunch, my wish will be granted.

I can't go too crazy all at once.  Starting this year, IRS will start taxing ebay sales, and I have other things to sell also.

Thanks!

A good woodworking school in the Northeast
Posted by: davco - 01-25-2024, 05:31 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (3)

Hi All,

I got laid off last spring and decided to retire. The company that laid me off will provide $2500 in tuition assistance for any career-based retraining I'd like. I have 30+ years of experience woodowrkig mostly with power tools, but I'd
like to hone up on my hand skills: planes, chisels, sharpening etc. Can anyone recommend a decent school for shorter-term courses?

Thanks,

Dave

  Time to remodel
Posted by: bandit571 - 01-25-2024, 12:26 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (4)

And..out with the old..

As this just wasn't working out...so

Rip out the old hanger, buy a supply of these at Wall E World...squeeze them together to hold on the smaller parts of a drill..and install..

Including a couple hangers left as is...to hold the hammers and the 2 Pilot Hole Drills....

Had to go back to Wall E World for a re-supply...

and bought the last of each style....one for a cutting gauge..

And the rest to replace the rack the Brace Drills used to call home..

as the wooden rack was falling down..

So...remove the old rack..

The Stanley 14" sweep was to go here....except it would be hitting the rack of squares....some shuffling around, and..

Including the 2 BIG Eggbeaters....Goodell Pratt Co. No. 5-1/2 B and a Millers Falls No. 2-01

With the #5-1/2B's LONG side handle hanging right in front.

About a $60 remodel....that was in need of doing.   Looks better, too?

  Delta bandsaw
Posted by: plharrison - 01-24-2024, 02:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (9)

I have a 20 yr old Delta 14" bandsaw. The threaded rod used to raise the upper wheel and tighten the blade has stripped. Delta refers me to ereplacementparts.com who says the part is obsolete and unavailable. Does anybody know where I might get this part?
Thanks,
Paul

  HVAC Ceiling vent
Posted by: museumguy - 01-24-2024, 02:12 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (9)

I've had several technicians tell me that my ceiling vents are AC and I need ones for heat. What is the difference? Where can I get 6" diameter heat vents/deflectors?
