  Delta bandsaw
Posted by: plharrison - 01-24-2024, 02:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (9)

I have a 20 yr old Delta 14" bandsaw. The threaded rod used to raise the upper wheel and tighten the blade has stripped. Delta refers me to ereplacementparts.com who says the part is obsolete and unavailable. Does anybody know where I might get this part?
Thanks,
Paul

  HVAC Ceiling vent
Posted by: museumguy - 01-24-2024, 02:12 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (9)

I've had several technicians tell me that my ceiling vents are AC and I need ones for heat. What is the difference? Where can I get 6" diameter heat vents/deflectors?

  Water heater TP valve leaking
Posted by: CEPenworks - 01-23-2024, 02:36 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (20)

I have a 3 year old tank water heater and the TP valve started to leak. I put a bucket under the tube coming out of the valve and after a week or so I would collect maybe a gallon of water. I switched out the valve and the new one does the same thing. I do not have the temp turned up high. Any idea what could be the problem?

  Shop Organization
Posted by: ajkoontz - 01-23-2024, 10:50 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (8)

Well, it ain't fine woodworking but I'm going to share this anyway. Just a little shop organization I finished this weekend, inspired by Ikea. Haven't had much time to build anything the last couple of years so this was at least some quality shop time with assist from my son+his new puppy. Now its time to fill all my bins up with junk that had been collecting in this rats nest of a corner at my miter saw station.

Looking for a full size copy (pdf) of the Beall Nut Template. Beall is out of business now and I am unable to find these anywhere.

Anyone have one they could make a copy of?
Thanks!

Question White oak inside a screened, covered porch. Poly or spar?
Posted by: ®smpr_fi_mac® - 01-22-2024, 12:28 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (4)

I'm building a table top from white oak that will be inside a screened, roofed porch.  Oil based poly or spar varnish?

For all my boat stuff I used varnish.

Customer wants a thick, tough finish applied.

What would you recommend?

Is there a cutlist extension for Sketchup free?  if not, can I export a Sketchup free model into Sketchup Make 2017 and use that cutlist?

Thanks,

  Finish for Garden Bench (Oak)
Posted by: grwold - 01-20-2024, 06:57 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (6)

I'm rebuilding a garden bench, using oak slats.  My plan is to stain the slats to a darker brown, maybe chestnut (don't want them to be too red, so not mahogany).

My question is, what finish should I use?  Spar varnish, some kind of polyurethane?  This will be well exposed to good, mid-Atlantic sun and rain during the days, probably some freezing rain & snow during the winter (not sure I'll want to give up garage space to bring it in during the winters).  What will hold up well, and what maintenance will be needed?
