  Taking Apart a Bedrock Plane
Posted by: Downwindtracker2 - 07-28-2015, 09:54 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (2)

The number one thing I would say is do not force anything to come apart. If a screw doesn't want to turn apply something like PB Blaster and give it time to work. Stanley used some uncommon thread sizes and taps and dies are scarce and expensive. When attempting to loosen the threaded rod that is screwed into the frog I slip a piece of copper tubing over the rod so Vise Grip pliers can clamp on without damaging the threads.

  Compressor drain valve specs
Posted by: arnman - 07-28-2015, 09:32 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

150 WSP = 150 PSI Working Steam Pressure, 600 WOG = 600 PSI Water, Oil, Gas Pressure. Basically all these numbers are pressure ratings, not necessarily quality ratings. As with anything there are always trade offs. Ball valves are great for quick on/off operations but tend to start leaking sooner than later, gate valves are slower to open/close but tend to be much more reliable when sealing or shutting off over the long haul. Personally, I lean towards gate valves since they generally last longer and with your application speed of opening/closing isn't critical at all.

  Water heater question: T&P valve.
Posted by: mission16 - 07-28-2015, 09:27 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (2)

Its a temperature and pressure relief. 125 psi or 220 degrees. You are exceeding one or the other. Do you have a small thermal expansion tank on your system? It may have failed. A check valve and no expansion tank? A pressure reg on the incoming water line? A sticking pressure switch on a pump?

Who stole my yard sale & flea market MOJO?
Posted by: Blacky's Boy - 07-28-2015, 09:05 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (21)

Whole stole it!? I want to know who stole my flea market and yard sale Mojo!

I used to have it. I mean, I could go to 4 or 5 yard sales and find at LEAST one noteworthy tool at a good price. Now,.....nothing but used baby clothes and tuperware!

And don't get me started about the Flea Markets! Most of the Vendors have Ebay-itis! YOu know, where they look up a "similar" tool's value on Ebay? Like when they have a Type 19 Stanley No5 and want $75 for it because "it's an antique!"

So I'm asking one more time,......WHO STOLE MY MOJO?!

Was it Dave Parkis? That guys been flaunting his finds a lot here recently.......... Could be him.......

Was it YOU Admiral? No,...NOT YOU! My fellow New Jersian? Say it ain't so!

Hold it,.....Rich (LilRichard),.......YOU'VE been posting a lot! Et Tu Richard?

Come on guys,.......give it BACK!

Best ask a lawyer. $500 may not be worth it, unless you can do it on your own.

Might call the cops. Should be some law/regulation covering that.

Why did he cut it? He could hack off any overhanging branches legally.

? about waxing exterior hard wood
Posted by: jerk151 - 07-28-2015, 04:54 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (6)

I wouldn't give up on oil. You will need a penetrating exterior oil with UV inhibitor. It's UV that causes the purple heart to change color. I wouldn't recommend marine spar varnish on a deck, since it's just a surface coating and will eventually get eroded away by foot traffic and furniture dragging across the deck.

Here's a link that goes through some of your options:

  Drip System Emitters?
Posted by: daveferg - 07-28-2015, 04:32 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (6)

You should be running a manufacturer approved filter prior to the drippers. I have a whole zone filter for my two main drip zones. I flush them once a year. My minor zones have bubbler type drip adapters and they have internal filters and, so far, haven't clogged.

Basically, if you are not using filters, use them.
