  Ulmia Square Adjustment
Posted by: HomerLee - 08-05-2015, 09:38 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (4)

Ulmia claim much greater precision than that. 0.04 mm's over the length, which is more like engineering accuracy.
If you don't get an answer here you could try emailing them. They have an email contact address on their website.

Need to make a cheap vacuum bag for 1 off use
Posted by: atgcpaul - 08-05-2015, 08:45 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (6)

You can seal vinyl plastic with standard PVC pipe cement. That's how I made my vacuum bag. Tape might work, too, for a one shot deal. If you have a boat "window" fabricating shop nearby they may have some vinyl cut offs for cheap. Otherwise, 6 mil vinyl might last for a couple of glue cycles.

Delta 14" bandsaw wheel removal (top)

Mine isn't finger tight, but it isn't cranked down either.
See if there's a shim washer behind the wheel.

Beautiful work as always. Sorry about the shed.

I find Flickr to be kind of a pain to get the code for linking to here.

  Travling to Myrtle Beach SC
Posted by: Smoothplane - 08-05-2015, 05:56 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (6)

I am planning to spend some time in Myrtle Beach SC next January.

Any suggestions for woodworking/hand tool/rust hunting spots to check out in that general area. Also any suggestions for must see attractions or good barbecue joints would be appreciated.

  Oak finishing
Posted by: lift mechanic - 08-05-2015, 05:39 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (5)

If you want a dead flat finish on oak you should have filled the pores with grain filler prior to applying finish. Too late for that now, so you will just have to keep applying more coats of Arm-R-Seal and then sanding back until all the pores are filled. At that point switch to satin and wipe on a couple more coats to finish. Personally, I like the look of oak with a little of the grain showing.

How to finish/treat logs for outdoor seats
Posted by: DIYdappler - 08-05-2015, 04:45 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (3)

Maple has really, really poor weathering resistance. And rounds of any kind are going to split; not much you can do about that. I think about the best you can do is figure out how to keep the bottoms off the ground and coat them heavily with Anchorseal or even melted wax.
