I just use a suitable sweep gouge to enlarge 1/3 to 1/2 the way through.

  Cabinet Hinge Drilling Jig
Posted by: ajkoontz - 09-14-2015, 03:49 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

That's such an easy setup on the drill press, I think that jig would be a waste of money. I usually drill the stiles before I've assembled the doors. Much easier to handle than a whole door.

  Garage Door Removal
Posted by: Gibbcutter - 09-14-2015, 03:20 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (2)

I removed one panel at a time when the wife tried to pull out while the door was closing. Had to undo the hinges and then each panel came out but required two people for a singe width door.

  Planer
Posted by: Peter Tremblay - 09-14-2015, 01:57 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (8)

Peter - In the portable tool range the Dewalt 735 is probably most people's best choice, and has helical heads.
If you have a permanent location, room and the money a full sized 15", Grizzly or Powermatic 15 with carbide helical heads.
My guess is you need to keep the option of being portable, if so, probably the Dewalt. I have the Grizzly 15 full size, my son is looking at the Dewalt 735 (he needs to be portable).

  Stopping a Kickback
Posted by: MsNomer - 09-14-2015, 11:30 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (14)

I've stopped boards that felt like they were going to kickback, but it was right at the start. if you don't have good grip on things (and possibly even if you do) it happens so fast there's no stopping it. The one time I got nailed by a kickback was when I was doing something I knew I shouldn't be, was in a hurry and wasn't paying complete attention to what I was doing.

I'd buy a kickback-stop tablesaw (if it existed) in a heartbeat because kickbacks worry me way more than having a run-in with the blade.
