  Exhaust fan for dust control

LOML says jokingly that most of the fun of a basement shop is being able to share the dust with all of the homes inhabitants, no matter how many floors above the shop they reside. Next Sunday marks our 35th anniversary, we have had a basement in our home in each home we have owned, and lived in. It was only in the first one I had a basement shop. 3 DC's and a number of point of use shop vacs, and there was still dust through that entire house. I had a downdraft table for sanding, before I knew they had a name. I can't think of a possible way you could mount even the most powerful bathroom fan, and it make any difference, but I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

I like Hitachi wj200 VFDs but a Huyang (or other import ebay special) would work no problem. I also own and like the Teco FM50.

Ive used mfg authorized ebay sellers that drop ship, and factorymation for my VFD purchases.

Airless used today spraying unthinned latex - ROCKING Machine
Posted by: BloomingtonMike - 09-20-2015, 09:51 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (9)

I picked up a wagner hvlp turbine at a sale a while back for cheap. Works surprisingly well especially for small jobs with little clean up and paint loss. Actually works better than the real turbine and spray fine gun. Not quite as nice of a finish as an airless sprayer but not far off.

IMO nothing gives as nice a finish as an airless with the least work. I'll gladly spend an hour cleaning a spray rig to save hours of painting by hand and get a better finish too. And you don't need a $$$ one. There are cheap ones that work great just get a good tip and the right one.

new shingle roof -- tear off or not?

Yes tear it off. Overlays decrease the life of the new shingles dramatically. Look up NRCA national roofing contractors assoc.

  Material for Kitchen Cabinet Shelves
Posted by: Grey Eagle - 09-20-2015, 05:39 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (3)

I bought the pre-edged 3/4" melamine and used that. Couple of reasons. Pre finished and pre-edged. I didn't see any reason to do any more work on the shelves. Also - if any wear out - very easy to change. You could use the prefinished plywood - you'll just have to edge it.
