  PSA: Clean your spray gun
Posted by: jteneyck - 10-02-2015, 09:43 AM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (1)

I have an old beater gun for dyes and glaze.

I have read somewhere that a good practice is to put Vaseline on the rear section of the needle and spring when reassembling. Anyone do this?

SiC sandpaper (wet/dry) might do it. Diamond impregnated plates will for sure. Or take it to a granite fabricator and have them do it.

A friend just shared this with me. The cabinet work of Geoff Hannah.

I made one of those yesterday. Mine was probably easier as I used lumber instead of timbers.

Why does the internal light bulb come on after I'm finished?

make your cover so it can drop on when you are not using it at the sander.

the stock is not going to tear it up , as you said drilling and cutting on it would however.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. The bond would be between the neutral and the ground. So, put a meter on the green wire and the white wire and see if there is continuity between the two. If there is, it's bonded.

  2001 PM 66 5hp Motor
Posted by: Timberwerks - 10-01-2015, 06:19 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (5)

I cant remember what my 3hp label is (pretty sure it says baldor though and mine is a 2008 model). I know when I called a supply shop looking for a centrifical switch, I gave them the number on the plate, and they said it wasnt a baldor number. They asked what it was off of....and they said they had to call to cross reference it.

I got the idea it is made by baldor to PM specs and not just an off the shelf baldor motor. I could be mistaken though.

Need some advise on selling some planes
Posted by: Arlin Eastman - 10-01-2015, 03:55 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (5)

I don't think you'll get much more for them in S&S by cleaning them. If they are really rusty, you may want to just get rid of the surface rust so the purchaser knows there's not much pitting. Otherwise, most buyers won't mind cleaning them up on their own.
