I thought someone would like to make one for a kid

Hi Arlin,

This is a link from your link that shows plans and instructions on how to build the robot toy. It looks pretty straight forward to make.

A lot of squares are not square either.

  Made a power strop: Market?
Posted by: Axehandle - 10-25-2015, 02:30 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (7)

You did an excellent job on it from the looks of it...maybe a little "too" nice, in that IME, sewing the wheel is not necessary..I have made several out of weight lifting belt leather, snagged at flea markets, over the span of about 7years...They are approx. 5.5" diameter and the adhesive I used between the laminations is Titebond..just stacked and placed on a flat surface with a weight placed on them until the glue hardened...I cut them roughly to shape on the bandsaw, then bored a 1/2" hole and mounted it on the motor shaft..I "improvised" a tool rest and used the motor as a lathe to turn the disc true..using an ordinary lathe skew. I turn a "working edge" on the wheel to about 30 degrees, which allows you to power strop long knives without them hitting the motor housing.

I am still using the first one I made and it has not delaminated all this time...It is still "stiff" enough without side reinforcement, but it could be made even stiffer by sandwiching it between plywood "washers"..

  Multiple receptacles on a 220 v circuit

No need for parallel circuits, whatever they are.

Run one circuit, continue until done.

A few more kitchen cabinet questions.

If the screws are coming loose it's not a Blum issue, it's an installation issue or a user issue. You said not holding up- is it just the screws or something about the hinge not holding up ? I've never seen a Blum hinge fail in any way.

For those face frames- if they are proud of the vertical dividers by a 32nd it won't hurt anything, but it will reduce your adjustment range by that same amount.

I'm by no means a great woodworker, so take this for what it's worth. I would pare some shavings with a chisel in the type of wood your using and then slip the shavings into the gaps. Leave them proud until the glue dries and then plane them down. This should give you matching end grain and should be almost invisible. HTH

Anyone used these Yonico Lock Miter Bits?
Posted by: bubba - 10-25-2015, 12:02 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

Gonna go out on a limb here but usually when nobody has heard of them, they are just last in line of a cheap ChiTaiwanese bit that has a usable life of about 20 lineal ft.

My rule if thumb is if I think I may use it a few times. I spend a few more $$$$$ the first time

Why have two speeds on a band saw for WW?
Posted by: DogwoodTales - 10-25-2015, 08:54 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

there is not one

other than a marketing bullet point

that the manufacturer cannot give a reason for having two speeds for

except the ability to slow it down for metal cutting
