Personally, I would be tempted to simply re-dowel it.

The photo is fuzzy, but the break looks to me like the original dowel was poor quality. A birch or maple dowel with the grain properly oriented end to end would not break easily.

If that is a dowel joint and not a round tenon joint, then removing the old dowel should be easy. Drill it out with an undersized drill bit, then chip out the waste. This should open up the holes and give you the space and alignment for the new dowels.

I use mine (Domino) on a small Fein and have no problems, and that's with a bag in the unit. I don't repalce my bags every time. The get re-used twice. The first time I cut on end off, empty it and then glue and clamp it back together. The second time it's the other end...then it gets tossed. At least for the Fein bags, Amazon has them at a more reasonable cost. I did have to put a wrap or 2 of duct tape around the tool's outlet to better fit my Fein hose.

Don Pencil was the other one but is no longer available. Penn State Industries also has one that uses an MT2 taper . All three wheels are on the lathe at one time with the PSI one.

  Rockwell lathe

I hope this is in the right place.

I have an 11" Rockwell lathe that I bought at a auction a long time age. It has turned out that anything I turn is very small and I have been thinking of selling the lathe and getting a mini or a midi lathe.

My question is would it be worthwhile
What is it worth?
What should I expect to pay for a used small lathe?

Thanks in advance.

Best advice I can give is to research Craigslist and Ebay. I see a LOT of older Rockwell and Delta lathes on craigslist, generally for less than 200 bucks. In my own experience I tried to sell an 11" Delta with many extras with no luck. It also included a Vega midi duplicator and I couldn't get 300 for the pair, in fact, I had maybe two calls. I search CL daily as I am watching for a used midi. They are few and far between in my area and I haven't seen any I'd buy as yet. Been watching for well over a year and about 100 mile radius.

  Who's Using Windows 10?
Posted by: jteneyck - 12-11-2015, 06:59 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (12)

I upgraded my old Del from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Everything was slooow. Took one hour just to log onto Google. Eventually I got a new HP computer (Windows 10)with 4 GB system memory and 500 GB Hard drive.
The 5 year old computer may have been slow from starting with a large program and smaller RAM. Don't know.
The new computer, 27 Inch Samsung monitor ($170?);Word, Excel, Notepad, and Powerpoint ($100), and two year warranty were about $630 at Staples on Black Friday.
With my fast cable the new system is fast as hell. I had spent about four days trying to get the old computer up to par but could not by myself. Could not see spending a few hundred to have someone fix it when a new computer does not cost that much extra.
Love the Windows 10 and the Monitor is wonderful.
