Saw a TV ad the other night for a light activate glue.
Said it was sand-able.

Has anyone tried using it on a pen or whatever?

I've had it used on me, does that count? If you've ever had a filling you probably did too!

they used the outer cast iron as a spring, which is why they break at the bottom. I'm thinking that there should be some other spring mechanism.

Define " not working very well". Is the sole flat? Is the bed flat? Does the wedge fit well? Problems setting iron depth?

I might be inclined to glue 4, 3/8 thick strips to the back, inset an inch or so from the edges to leave a shadow line. Cut a keyhole slot in the top strip before gluing it on.

  Sharkbites and grounding?

Does a sharkbite union create a dielectric break or a reliable conductor?

If a ground-wire jumper is required between inlet and outlet of water heaters, and around any meters or devices containing plastic then why wouldn't a jumper be necessary at a sharkbite connector if the copper line is being used as a ground?

Have used them, though not for the purpose you describe.

I don't see how they could possibly conduct...the fittings I used appeared to be all PVC (or some other plastic) will rubber or silicone seals on the ends. Run a continuity check with a multi-tester. Should tell you everything you need to know.

For me it was a drum sander (yours). I bought it from a fellow second hand but unused and was trying to help him out more than anything. Had no idea what I would do with it only to find out how useful it was. Every project had wood going across it. Eventually I put a spiral head on my planer and then discovered hand planes to clean things up...the DS got used a whole lot less so I let it go to make some room in the shop. Speaking of hand planes, as a non-hand-tool-guy I was skeptical of using them, until I bought some well tuned ones here at S&S and discovered the slippery slope.
