Purchasing a Sawstop and Dust Collector
Posted by: Danny in Houston - 01-10-2016, 10:10 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (6)

You are welcome to come by and see my setup. It sounds like similar floor space. NE of Marble Falls. Added the Sawstop sliding table over Christmas.

Cool process. I used the dovetail saw at Woodcraft once and I like it.

Count me as one who did not know they were made in house.

  Best drum sander?
Posted by: Wild Turkey - 01-09-2016, 11:34 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (26)

Friend is shopping for a drum sander for some flat panels he will be making. I think the largest will be 24".

I've sent him some videos on the Jet and Supermax sanders, what others should he consider? It will be a small production situation, not a hobby shop so he needs something reliable and robust.

  Another 8" jointer question
Posted by: Wild Turkey - 01-09-2016, 11:29 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (7)

A rebuild story for the same jointer he sounded like he was happy with it.

Mikes tools parts list Shows both the older, and newer versions of the 37-315. Possibly Motor is on another sheet, or maybe it had choices? Was trying to find what was specked for it.

My Grizz 8" much newer comes packing 3HP GO490XW-8"

5/8"s ply if you are using 2cm they say it isn't if you are using 3cm. I was shopping for some today. I can get a kitchen done for less than $300 in this stone here

  I Found a Miter Box

It appears to be of Millers Falls manufacture, and the extra parts on either end might indicate that it's a Langdon. You won't be disappointed with it - clean it up and put it to work.

You guys have to see this staved and segmented turning

There is some amazing workmanship in that piece. There is a lot of end grain glue joints. That always makes me nervous.

I just would like to do something nice for him personally not just buying his high grade tools and services.

Try anywhere but PSI. Maybe Craft Supply or Lee Valley.
