  Sanborn Air Compressor
Posted by: Mr Eddie - 01-21-2016, 10:51 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

I've had a 60gal. Sanborn for several years. It works well and has never cost me a dime. I wouldn't hesitate to but another if I needed another compressor.

I use it for air tools, sandblasting, tires, etc. It doesn't get heavy use but it is all I need for garage and woodshop use.

  chuck for non-threaded spindle?
Posted by: Wild Turkey - 01-21-2016, 09:59 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (3)

Pull the spindle and have a machine shop cut threads in it?

I have seen adapters intended for reversing a piece without losing concentricity that have a threaded end on a MT2 taper. Maybe one of those tapped for a drawbar.

Drill chuck for Baldor "dental Lathe"
Posted by: measure once cut remeasure - 01-21-2016, 08:51 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (1)

We on the Canadian woodworkers forum had a lady with a dental lathe and needed some help to be able to polish with it.

Hers was a 70 watt motor, so less than 1/10HP and had maybe enough power for her to polish sharpening her carving tools (that was what she wanted to do), anyway we found out that the taper on those is a special taper for these motors to be able to hold the tools with no other fastening but just the taper flicked onto the shaft, she got these on Ebay for little money

So I would start looking or find a way to use the buffing tapers somehow

The thread on the forum is here if you like to peruse it.

  qs sycamore
Posted by: wing nut - 01-21-2016, 08:36 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (5)

Sycamore is a secondary wood in my part of Ohio, somewhat like Poplar, Beech, Gum, and many others. Most of them are readily available, and rough/green you can often get them for as little a 50 cents a bd/ft, KD around $1.50. Sycamore is very seldom if ever flat sawn. It has almost no charm as a flat wood. QS it comes alive, and anyone talking about Sycamore adding the QS part is almost a redundancy.

That could be an interesting haul. Wonder if it is real and how much they will hold out for?

  A Make-up Vanity
Posted by: jteneyck - 01-21-2016, 02:28 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (3)

Very nice John. I'm thinking you really like your new spray setup! You have convinced me enough that I am actively looking for a new compressor - and then a call to JJ for the spray kit. A couple of questions:

1. How do you do the finger joints for the drawers?
2. Where do you spray? My shop is 24' x 24' with the workbench located dead center. I thought about a track on the ceiling so I could encircle the bench with some sort of hanging drop cloth - sort of a shower curtain type setup. I know you have a basement shop so I was curious how you setup to spray.

Thanks for the help,
Lonnie

PS You should call Jeff and ask if you can be a mfg rep for him

  Fake craigslist ads?

Seems like a phishing scam to collect data. There was a thread about it in woodworking a few weeks ago. Thread
