  back up pads
Posted by: Angus - 01-22-2016, 04:44 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (2)

I use the pads from Lee Valley. I did buy Klingspors and Woodcraft ones and they fell apart the first time and that was with light sanding. But that is all I know of the three.

  Good price on lumber?
Posted by: cad - 01-22-2016, 10:20 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (5)

If it is $60 for all that, that is a no brainer. Run don't walk. That wood could have interesting grain. You can get curly wood, fiddleback or others. It is a bit on the Mahagony color range and works well with sharp tools. I would take a chance for sure. Unless you see it and it is all knotty then why not.

I don't think that small amount would be a problem. And it should wear itself in round the first time you use it.

Wouldn't a sixteenth be within the "squish factor" for buffing??

They really went down hill when production was shipped to China. Sorry for all the hard time you are getting from them. Makes me glad now I have nothing of theirs.
