  Trying to remember a supplier
Posted by: fredhargis - 09-30-2023, 03:42 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (7)

Does anyone remember an electrical supplier that Mike Hedrick (Bloomington Mike) used to recommend. I had used them a few times and was quite impressed by their prices, but more so by their selection. For the life of me I can't remember their name, and I searched Mike's posts (he hasn't been around in a while, I think he went over to SMC) and couldn't find the name.

  Ridgid Oscillating Sander Table
Posted by: mike9 - 09-30-2023, 09:05 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

Looking for ideas on a secondary table for the Ridgid oscillating sander. I want to make a table that is bigger with more miter slot options. I don't want to make a full cabinet more of a new top. Thank you!

  Festool Miter Saw
Posted by: mike9 - 09-30-2023, 09:02 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

Has anyone had to reset the fence on their festool mitersaw, I loved this saw but really getting frustrated with it. The thing I don't like is the table, fence, and miter detent are seperate pieces instead of a traditional miter saw where the detents are built into the table. I don't know what to adjust first to get square cuts. I asked on FOG with very little responses as usual.

Dovetail Drawers for new masterbed room dresser
Posted by: Johnny Currado - 09-30-2023, 07:12 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (12)

I am contemplating of doing some nice dovetail drawers for my custom hand made dresser that is going in my master bedroom.  What wood would be good for these drawers?  Is there a good plywood that would be good for dovetail drawers?  if so, what type and whats the best thickness.  I have done regular poplar before with no issue but these are going to be a big large since they are a drawer for a master bedroom dresser.
Thanks in advance!

  Piping the dust collector outside
Posted by: blanning - 09-29-2023, 11:02 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (11)

I was thinking to collect the larger stuff with a cyclone, then send the fine stuff outside.  I think I remember reading somewhere that this causes problems with heating and cooling because it would suck outside air in from other places to equalize the pressure.

Does anyone do this?

Hi All,

I have come to realize that I do not reach for this plane as much as I do for others so this one is up for sale.  It is located in Racine, WI if you are close and want to try before you buy.  I will ship in the Continental US and will accept PayPal as payment (friends and family) so I don't have a fee.  The Plane is SOLD

How to remove vinyl mastic from concrete?
Posted by: EightFingers - 09-25-2023, 09:03 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (20)

Redoing my kitchen floor that had tile installed over vinyl sheet flooring. Who does this?
Anyway, pulling up the tile then the vinyl left a layer of mastic which is difficult to remove.
I need to get this prepped for tile.
Googled and looked at a number of youtube videos.
So I tried boiling water, some sort of mastic remover from Home Depot, propane torch, rotary hammer,
ROS with 32 grit paper, scraper mounted in recip saw, oscillating saw with scraper attachment and a 1” chisel.
None of them really worked well at all. I did get about 10 sqft done in 4 hours.

Open to suggestions!

  Lee Valley and Leigh tools
Posted by: fredhargis - 09-25-2023, 03:38 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

I realize that I'm at least a year behind everybody on such stuff, but i just learned that LV acquired Leigh tools. This came about after I placed an order with Leigh earlier this month for some parts for my D4 on line, and it hadn't shipped yet. I called to ask about it and the rep said he couldn't find the order or any other info about me (name, email, etc.) so I forwarded my e mail confirmation to their CS. Their reply explained that merging the 2 systems this month caused me stuff to get lost in the shuffle. This is one of those rare moments when one quality company has acquired another. I'm more used to money-grubbers buying out a company and then ruining it. Anyway, just thought I'm mention it. LV will take care of my order, so I'm a happy camper.
