These are hand tools I used when making guitars and ukuleles.

1. First up a set of miniature planes used for shaping braces.  As I recall they are/were made by a local luthier and were $50 for the pair.  $30 shipped CONUS. - SOLD

2. Set of Crown Tools Skew (or corner?) chisels.  One LH and one RH, in good shape used lightly.  $30 shipped CONUS. - SOLD

3. 2" no-name chisel has been around the block but plenty of life left! - $20 shipped CONUS

4.  I believe these are violin makers planes made by Simonds.  Can't recall if I ever used them. $50 shipped CONUS

  Best dedicated router table motor
Posted by: davco - 10-27-2023, 06:49 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (28)

I'm torn between the Milwaukee 5625 and Woodpeckers Spinrite.

Seems like no motor is without it's flaws.

If you read down in the reviews for the 5625 some people had switch failures, speed control failures and complete motor faolures. One production Woodworker said that the 5625 had to be sent in for service frequently. Even though it does have a 5 year warranty.

For the Spinrite one guy complained that the brushes wore out quickly and another had a motor failure, but they quickly replaced it.

Even some reviewers had lemons with the Jessem Powertek, which is surprising at such a high price point.

I don't mind buy once cry once but I thought I could have higher confidence before making a choice. So far haven't been.able to get there.

Interested in hearing what others settled on for their motors.

FS: DeWalt DW682K biscuit joiner $65
Posted by: alanealane - 10-26-2023, 05:19 PM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - Replies (1)

This is a one owner tool. I kept it extremely nice and all the accessories in the case. Buyer pays shipping to their location. I'll find you the best deal I can. PayPal non f&f or Venmo is fine. I accept checks or money order via snail mail also. I just got a Porter Cable with the -45 degree fence setting so this nice DeWalt setup gets to go to a new home. Asking less than they're listed for on eBay.
Thanks!

Timberwolf has an excellent deal on a CBN wheel down in SnS. Worth a look if you have thought about switching.

FS - A few more items every shop needs....
Posted by: SheriDi - 10-25-2023, 06:42 PM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - Replies (2)

1 - Bayard Mini Plane Set.  Don't know where I got them, lightly used, appear to be brass with wood inlay. (Rule is to show size only)  $30 Shipped CONUS - SOLD

2 - 7 piece carving set, I believe it was from Lee Valley.  They list it in their online catalog, but it is no longer available. Like new condition. $40 shipped CONUS - Sold

3 -  Who doesn't need a Beall Wood Threader?  Purchased probably over 25 years ago and the bits still have the protective coating.  Lee Valley lists this set with RH threads only.  This one has right and left 1/2", 3/4" and 1".  The Lee Valley Price for just the RH set is $145.   $125 shipped CONUS. - Sold

Last up - I have no idea what this is.  I believe it belonged to a friend who was an avid pen turner.  If you know what it is and can use it, I will ship it to you just to get it out of my shop!

Pneumatic fitting - what is it called?
Posted by: Juss1 - 10-23-2023, 09:57 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

I bought a Chiller for my CNC.  It's not the greatest quality but I think it will be fine for my needs.  I would like to change the ports however.  They're plastic (see pic) and I want to change them to metal.   I ordered a festo push fitting but need to get the mating piece but I'm not sure what it's called.  See pic.  It's the piece circled in blue.  I also included a link to the push fitting I ordered.  I also asked in a cnc forum I'm a member of but maybe here might know the answer as well

Been in a drawer for many years.  Can't remember if I ever attached it to a router.  Looks like everything is there, still in the original box.

  Oak crotch table legs
Posted by: Eazyduzzit - 10-23-2023, 01:51 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (7)

A friend of mine has an Alaskan mill. He and I are always swapping favors and he brought me this slab a couple of years ago. It’s been upstairs in my shop since then and I finally decided to flatten it out and do something with it. I think it will make a nice small table, but I’ve never made this type of furniture before and can’t decide what kind of legs to use. I’m asking for ideas. At first I thought maybe some natural tree limbs with the bark stripped off, but decided against it. What do you all think?

  My Anarchist Workbench
Posted by: Bryan F. - 10-22-2023, 07:59 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (24)

Here is my version of the Anarchist's Workbench.  Not quite done but pretty darn close.  Top is 72" x 22" to give 2ft of clearance off each end.  Built from #1 and #2 yellow pine 2x.  I put a quick release vise on the right end (I'm a right hander).  My splurge was a Benchcrafted leg vise with Criss Cross.  Built the chop from a 2 piece glue up of 8/4 slab of Bois D'arc (Osage Orange) that I've moved around the garage for 4 years looking for a project to do with it.

My top glue up was not good, had a jointer issue I didn't notice until all 3 sections of the top were in the clamps.  Was able to fix it, reground my jack plan blade to about 7" radius (a quasi scrub plane?)and went to work first hollowing out the hump that ran the length of the bench down the middle then traversing the top to make it flat. Followed up with my Veritas Low Angle Jack to take out the ripple.  Been stalking #7s and #8s on Ebay for a final pass.  Only thing left is chopping the mortise for the planing stop and drilling holes for hold downs and dogs.
