  Spar Urethans compatibility help!
Posted by: Ricc Havens - 08-03-2015, 09:08 AM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (1)

Should be fine Ricc. At their heart these are pretty much the same chemically, so their shouldn't be any problems that you wouldn't otherwise have. Consider also, Rustoleum bought the Varathane brand, so if they have Varathane spar, it's probably even closer to the same.

If I was close I'd buy it just for the fence.

How to properly grade/prep cleared portion of my lot for lawn.
Posted by: sleepy hollow - 08-03-2015, 07:37 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (4)

I did the same thing about the same size back in '93, and then $$ was tight. I did have a big Troy-Bilt rototiller (still have it) and over a few weekends tilled, raked, tilled, raked three times, but I did have good soil and didn't have to add any, and the grade was pretty much ok, so not a lot of moving soil. Worked out fine.

I'm sure there is heavier equipment out there, and I know that Bobcat has a tiller attachment, and maybe rent a rake to tow behind. That would make it a one weekend job.

I'd try just pulling up on the thing first and see what happens

Edge to edge and you're good. No need for Kreg jig. Biscuits can help align if you want, but not needed.

Junk sale turns into a possible new way to sell some turnings!
Posted by: bobs64ford352 - 08-02-2015, 10:03 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (1)

It may work, but you never know till you try. Some shows are very picky about what you can sell. All the ones I did, you had to make what you sold, which means some of the shows could require you to be at the booth, at least part time, during selling time. The ones where any one could sell anything never were very good for me.

Minimum roof pitch on shed lean-to...
Posted by: mpwedge - 08-02-2015, 07:33 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (26)

I am planning a 12x16 shed with a lean-to coming out 12' on one side. I am trying to get the max height out of the lean-to that I can, what is the minimum roof pitch for asphalt shingles? I could go with a metal roof, but would rather explore asphalt as the rest of the shed is asphalt on a 7/12 roof. I have read that 2/12 is do-able using a ice water barrier and double layers of felt. Does the fact that its a 12x16 roof change anything?
I'm in the Willamette Valley in oregon between Salem and Portland, we do get rain and occasionally snow, but I haven't seen more than 12" at one time over the 20 years that we've here.

...purchased a used Lincoln 220 v welder from CL. .......I want to make sure I properly wire for a welder.

Find the model and serial number of the welder.
Go to http://www.millerwelds.com/service/ownersmanuals.php
Download the manual.

It will have all the electrical specs, plus a bunch of others stuff.

Then go to
http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.p...ode-(2014)
(Is it forbidden to mention "that other forum"??)

Check the applicable wiriing size and techniques, or come back here after finding out the electrical requirements.

Assuming an attached garage within city limits???

  Airless Paint sprayer
Posted by: Bill Bob - 08-02-2015, 04:32 PM - Forum: Finishing - No Replies

I have always used latex material not a problem cleaning it all. However what is a good way to clean the 50 foot long hose when finished with enamel type paints? Just the hose alone holds a quart of fluid. Seems like it may take a gallon or two of thinner to flush it out completely if not more?
