  Mounting power feeder
Posted by: Anthony W - 08-13-2015, 08:25 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (5)

My first feeder, I mounted it to a 6/4 oak board then clamped that board to my tablesaw. It worked, but flexed.
I finally gave up and drilled the table and mounted it. I had no flex then.

No suggestions on a jointer, as I haven't had a need for having a feeder on mine.

Minwax poly over latex semi-gloss enamel ?
Posted by: Ohio Mike - 08-13-2015, 06:24 AM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (6)

Most "latex" paints are designed to be cheap and easy to apply to things like walls and not have stuff sit on them. Under relatively low pressure—e.g. books siting on them—they will flex and flow. Putting another coating of whatever type on top will not mitigate this problem. You need to remove the latex and put a good finish on. You may want to put a good color on and follow with a clear durable topcoat.

  Anyone looking for some projects?
Posted by: goaliedad - 08-12-2015, 07:54 PM - Forum: Woodworking - No Replies

I built a table and benches for a lady from the Detroit are a couple years ago
She just contacted me looking for a couple things. I am not in a position to take on the work right now.
If you are within about 3 or 4 hours of Detroit and are interested send me a pm
Right now it is a bath vanity and queen bed. No details beyond that
No promises, but it might work out for you

I absolutely love your restoration threads, Daryl. I've done quite a few myself now, and I'm getting better, but then I see your work and sigh...

Don't worry, you aren't depressing me, you are inspiring me.

Love the handle. Neat old nuts, I haven't found any like that yet.

I always either sandblast or wire brush the surface to remove the gray layer, then wipe down with a solvent before painting. Aerosol brake cleaner works well.
