  Parts for Freud FJ85 jigsaw?
Posted by: jeffmorris - 09-26-2015, 01:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (4)

It's a long shot, but call Bosch (630-705-7810). Apparently, when they bought the Freud bit/blade business part of the deal was to provide Freud power tool parts in the US. That's how I got some parts for my Freud 1700 router.

  Pen blanks
Posted by: blackhat - 09-26-2015, 01:26 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (2)

Another possibility might include some pepper/salt mill blanks.

IIRC, apple is a good wood for tool handles. If that memory is correct, then some apple blanks the right size for socket chisel handles could be cool as well.

If you wind up with odd-sized cutoffs, then stopper blanks or pen blanks for single-wood kits come to mind.

I look forward to bidding.

A reference or part number for the fixture you have would be helpful.

Very nice looking pens. If you don't mind me asking, how much are you selling your pens for?

  It's always something, Caddyshack edition

If your dogs are terriers, you're fighting hundreds of years of breeding for them to hunt critters. And some non-terrier breeds will also dig for critters.

I can only suggest you try to stop access to the system-----I believe they sell screens that sit over the holes in gutter downspouts to keep out leaves (and maybe critters as well).

  PM 2000 dust collection
Posted by: Demps - 09-26-2015, 09:44 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

Makes sense that the blade shroud could use velocity - shop vac - to pick dust up and transport it. The cabinet wouldn't care too much, given that the dust doesn't have to overcome gravity, if you use the high volume collector.

  Tormek grind out of square
Posted by: glzahn - 09-26-2015, 07:32 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (5)

The face of the wheel might be square to the sides, but the face really needs to be parallel to the arm across the front of it to work properly. That is why the wheel is dressed to ensure the grinding surface is parallel to the bar. Once that is done, your jig will be set up properly to ensure 90 angles.
So, go back to the step of dressing the surface of the wheel with the dressing jig and after that, you should be good to go.

Here's the case...I wedged the handle ends and chamfered all of the corners.

Thoughts from the hand tool guys - tool tracking/database?
Posted by: T.J. - 09-25-2015, 07:03 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (3)

Well you asked for thoughts so I'll share mine. It wouldn't be anything I would be interested in spending time on but others may feel differently. I applaud you for presenting the idea though.

15-16" planer fixed or moving table?

Don't know which is preferred but mine is with the motor below and movable table, had it for 20 some years without any problems.
