  Sturdy picnic table plans
Posted by: mission16 - 10-16-2015, 07:08 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (3)

Has been around forever, using the 2x6 for seat width and table allow for a better "adult size" going with 2x4 can make for a "kids size" Trying to go smaller for very small children isn't safe. Thing about these is they still require XYZ in material and labor cost, and depending on where you source them some of these plastic/metal tube frame tables are less than total cost of the wooden, which require someone to do the work, and the maintenance.

Maintenance can cost more than the table itself

Question for Incra TS fence owners
Posted by: jussi - 10-16-2015, 06:38 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (1)

1. I too had the problem. The fix is to go through the setup process again. I was a little sloppy in the alignment. It is very touchy to align correctly but once done I find it works well.

2. Yes you can. I would think taking it off while using it as a TS a bit busy. I am thinking about putting a router on the right side instead of the left. I haven't done it yet. I have 2 TS connected and have an extension between them so I have a prefect place to do it. I used one TS as a rip only - the motor died so I quit doing that but it worked well.

  Rikon
Posted by: chips ahoy - 10-16-2015, 06:15 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (3)

I've had my Rikon 70-100 since 2009. It's hard to say it's not a good lathe, because I've thrown a lot of crap at it, but it's not a good lathe.

I would skip the Chinese made lathes if at all possible....

Ideas for new shed floor covering and also loft

First thought is vinyl flooring. It's quite durable basically waterproof and can be had in remnants for cheap.

Apparently good thru the end of the year. I find them too pricy though still.

  Sharpen a marking knife??
Posted by: bennybmn - 10-16-2015, 10:15 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (4)

Sharpening a marking knife is not all that difficult. Same thing applies as to chisels. Flatten the back, then work the bevel(s). In your case, you could work the offending bevel on your Work Sharp, then flatten the back on a stone. I mostly freehand my marking knives when they need it. They don't need to be ultra sharp. Marking with the grain with an ultra sharp knife might cause the knife to wander, following the grain. A light touch to score, then more pressure to deepen the line is my technique.

Laguna Revo 18-36, anyone tried one?
Posted by: J Lilley - 10-16-2015, 06:17 AM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (4)

There are some reviews on the Woodcraft web site and of course on the Laguna site. If you search for it you will find a couple other reviews as well.
I put one on order at the local Woodcraft. Been 3 weeks and I am still waiting. It looked like a well built machine in the store.

  DIY Spray Foam Kits
Posted by: jamesglenn - 10-16-2015, 05:08 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (4)

I have never done it myself but when I had my house done I was working with the people that did it. The thickness thing is a trial and error thing from what I saw but not long to figure out. The 32" Sawzall blades are something you might have to search for and the hazmat suit to protect you from breathing any of it in seemed to be the biggest concern for the installers. I am not sure why as the spray was far from their face but obviously they must have had a reason to believe it was a danger. You don't mention what type you are looking at closed or open cell and they are very different products but both will get rid of drafts
