What are you trying to cut? Can you not just clamp an appropriate disc of MDF to the workpiece?

  Woodcraft casters
Posted by: fredhargis - 10-29-2015, 12:21 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (4)

the Woodcraft casters lock with less play then the Shop Fox or Hartville ones that I have used. I like them the best of all of the casters I have used. I bought a set from Rockler that are pretty good also. I do believe that there was somebody that came on here last time that we discussed casters and said they had problems with the Woodcraft caster falling apart. I have had zero issues..

If you've got a checkbook your golden.

This is a typical call for an electrician. And given the weather is cooling off, not even a bad one.

Do you have another switch on the wall to add to? Or will he have to grab power from somewhere?

The extra insulation may slow him down a little, but it's certainly not a showstopper. 6/12 roof is plenty. I've crawled in 4/12 roofs with a foot of loose insulation. I'd be more worried about him getting the insulation put back best he can.

Can't beat a Tormek, bite the bullet, as it's expensive, but you only cry once.

  DW734 benchtop planer reviews
Posted by: Bill Wilson - 10-29-2015, 08:58 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

I've had mine for several years. I still like it and would buy it again if I didn't go to a large planer.

Mine has held up well, I've never had any issues with it.

Blade life? That's hard to say. Everybody says blade life sucks for this planer, but I don't know what to compare it to. Even when the blades get knicks in them, I'll still use them.

It's heavy, but I'm athletic, so I can manage. I keep it on a small dolly, and roll it to where I need it. So, I only have to lift it a few inches on or off the dolly. The handles on it are nice.

I like the portability of it and the fold up tables the best. The finish it leaves is very nice.

The deafening sound is the worst, so I wear earplugs. Snipe seems to be inevitable with it. I just make sure that I leave two extra inches of wood on each end, and cut it off after planning. The depth gauge isn't meant for precision plus it is too low to the ground to see well, so I have a cheap caliper set to the finished size I need, and just rely on that.

Nice tapered reamer. I see the hole in the oak by it. Can that tool actually cut its own hole or is it just a reamer?

What about a gift exchange where every participant makes something, rather than purchases the gift?

Or, if this is to daunting for some, setting a limit on what may be spent (say $10 - that would make one inventive!).

After all, it is the thought - and the time given - not the receiving.

Kind of looks like the cabinet is made from poplar.

I would use Hard Maple for the top, but I would leave the natural color, but thats my preference. If he really wants the top to match, you could use a water based dye, but you would have to seal it with a good durable top coat.
