  Panel glue up question

Always make panels the same thickness to run though drum sanders.

less likely to make a silly mistake.

  Sassafras Kitchen Table

That's super-nice! I was recently thinking about Sassafras; your comments distinguishing it from oak and ash are much appreciated.

Great work.

I have some from costco. The older ones (not available around here anymore) I like better than their latest offering, but its a decent price.

  Oneida super gorilla dust collector

Good Score for 500.00. Try to get a manual online, with assembly instructions. As far as the motor goes if it worked before it should work now. You could test for continuity , and make sure it rotates by hand.

Good Luck

  Shipping Wood?
Posted by: PedroOhare - 11-02-2015, 10:10 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (1)

There is no quarantine for thousand cankers disease of black walnut in California. Thousand cankers disease is already there and wide spread so a quarantine would be pointless. Wisconsin has a quarantine for importing certain walnut products into the state but that wouldn't apply to moving material out of the state. Generally walnut lumber can move anywhere if it is free of bark and kiln-dried. Ken

  Metal roof help needed
Posted by: Herb - 11-02-2015, 09:41 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (8)

My shop has an old corrugated metal roof that has been rusted for many many years. I've tried just about everything in a spot and soon it just comes back. Can't find anything to compete with the sun. I figure the metal is so thick it will take many years to rust through at which time I'll just replace it.

I was told an option was an acrylic coating, it might be good for 10 years, but that is very expensive and a pro must do it.

  Production drilling large holes
Posted by: Cooler - 11-02-2015, 09:16 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (9)

Drilling a hole that big is not the fastest operation west of the Pecos.
If cosmetics are critical, I'd drill all the holes as fast as possible to ~2-2-/1/8.
Probably with a medium priced Forstner.
Then finish templet rout with a solid carbide straight bit.

  Lion miter box
Posted by: richtes - 11-02-2015, 09:04 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (4)

they work well taking off small slices of the end of miters about a 1/32.
That one in the photo looks pretty beat and missing the handle. I have the Asian knock off in perfect condition that I'll sell for $85 and I'm real close to you.
