Been going on for quite some time now. Not the biggest fan of it myself it's hard heavy and tough to finish but it makes great pallets and utility grade stuff. Got a couple big boards in the shop. One is a around 22" wide and 16' long. That's why I like buying #1 common...

Can something like the Sakrete Blacktop Patch be used to replace/repair the small ramp, its 6-8" wide, 10-12 long? Or is that just going to get chewed up in no time?
No idea when the ramp was originally put down, we've been here for 3 years and its just now getting chewed up...could have been done when the neighbor's driveway was put in 10 years or so ago or it could have been right before we moved in, I dunno.
I don't think any cold-mix product will hold up under garbage truck wheel loads in a transition ramp from a gravel driveway to a paved driveway. Cold mix needs to be held in place around the total perimeter of the patch, such as in a pothole repair. Your gravel driveway will not provide any lateral support to the ramp. Also, the gravel will allow water infiltration under the ramp.
The existing ramp may have been hot mix, which is why it lasted three years.

It came standard on my Grizzly 636X and it works great. I have added a 12" board to it on occasion when resawing wide stock. It comes as part of a fence assembly and attaches to a fence that actually rides the rails. Do you have a way to attach it to your stock fence? Ken

When you work with green/air dried spalted wood, do you kiln dry the rough turned bowl or do anything else to render the spalt inert or does simply getting the wood into equilibrium with the air do it?

Just did this not too long ago.
With an 8-inch jointer, you've got the jointer capacity. Remove the cutter guard and set the fence for just over half the width of the boards. Run one half the board through then reverse the board and joint the other half. Continue the process taking small cuts with each pass until you get a flat side. If one side is higher than the other you may need to run the high side through another time. Just remember to take light cuts with each pass.
You may want to practice on a scrap piece of wood to get a feel for how this works.
