What type of oil did you use for the soak? Soak time? Dry time? Anticipated frequency for relube?
Any issues with dust collection or gumming?
Any issues with oil film transference to edges after cut?

That's a pretty piece. It depends on the load whether 1/4" ply would work on the bottom of a till. But I highly doubt you would overload it.

Why not use the cord to replace the one on the jointer and eliminate all the excess connections between current outlet and tool?

Sounds to me like a good deal. You will learn how to turn, and you will learn what you want when you buy a lathe.
