The Makita 9820-2 knife sharpener I just bought has a problem. The plastic housing has plastic boss areas where the 2 height adjusting posts slide in,and has nut retainers moulded into them. The nut retainers have broken off and height shafts can't be locked. Other than a $97 housing, any fixes for this?
I'm thinking of attaching nuts to the outside of the housing. Not sure if epoxy would hold. Maybe a bar thru bolted to the housing, with a threaded hole in each end for the lock screws. Maybe fill the area where the nut goes, with JB Weld, then drill and tap. I think I might try this, and then if it doesn't work, another idea.
Any known cure?

The headlamp I like is this one.www.amazon.com/5000Lumen-Siensync-Waterproof-Headlight-Flashlight/dp/B016Q1G67W/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1449349959&sr=8-17&keywords=Headlamp
It's super bright and rechargable. Those are not AA batteries they are 18650 lithium cells. You can get spares but be careful. With the popularity of the e cigs now there are massive numbers of fake cells on the market. Some have a tiny battery inside and sand to make up the weight etc.
Probably overkill for what you want but I like it and it can be very bright if needed. Whatever you get make sure the batteries are rechargable.

I called them up about a flapper issue. Not sure it was the toilet or hard water they sent me out a couple of replacements. I am still happy enough that I bought another about 2 weeks back and depending on the outcome of a current purchase I might be buying another 3 They make the poo poo go away quietly and that is what I want

Griz G1021 15" Planer - new Byrd head? |

I have the same planer, installed a Byrd a few years ago. For my hobby shop use using rough sawn hardwood the 2hp Griz has plenty of puff to keep me happy. The install was straight forward, think it took me around 3 or so hours start to finish. well worth the $550 and probably less costly in the long run than buying a new machine and selling the old one.
Now, if you have your wife convinced that you need a new planer, disregard the above.
