Off the outlet. Maybe 20 watts (assume motion sensor light is also led).

You guys have to see this Mini Christmas Ornament
Posted by: Arlin Eastman - 12-06-2015, 07:43 PM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (3)

The first one was VERY impressive! The incessant, irritating chatter (TV cartoons?) in the background made me turn the sound off. No need to listen to sound on this one. No narration.

I have never turned it before, but what I have seen from others is pretty nice.

Anything from 9 to 18 inches in length is good to use so it can be split and a bowl made to what ever size the thickness is.

  Rikon Bench Grinder 80-805 / 80-808?
Posted by: fall - 12-06-2015, 04:25 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (1)

Unless you are doing some serious grinding, as in fabrication and not sharpening, 1/2 hp is plenty; I've never had any luck with the lights, they fall off and don't put much light on the action anyway, I prefer a secondary light myself.

A Safer Way To Make This Cut?
Posted by: hankgillette - 12-06-2015, 02:43 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (9)

Almost any 'plowing cut' on the router table involves a 'buried' cut with wood between the fence. If there's a way around it, I've never figured it out.

  My *DELETED*

I have trouble maintaining consistency throughout, too. A lack of proper tools and experience in my case, but I keep trying...

I like the form! Simple, clean, with a nice accent...

Beautiful photos of arts and crafts joinery
Posted by: doc1 - 12-06-2015, 01:10 PM - Forum: Woodworking - No Replies

In the Fall/Winter edition of American Bungalow, pp. 120-121. Tenons, splines, chamfers, dovetails, several kinds of stretchers, and keyed and through tenons. Lots of other photos of interest to those of us who prize this style of furniture.

  Holtey Iron: What's It Worth?
Posted by: Philip1231 - 12-06-2015, 12:08 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (2)

Holtey's genius is in the construction of his plane bodies. The iron is likely worth the same as any premium iron (Hock, Veritas, etc.).

That's my opinion anyway.
