  wall paper removal and repainting
Posted by: mdickmann - 12-28-2015, 10:56 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (4)

the glue is left over. It can be really hard to remove all the way and then causes a bad surface with the paint. I have skim coated it successfully.

Building The Drawers - The Lingerie Chest
Posted by: Derek Cohen - 12-28-2015, 10:50 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (6)

Here is the next chapter in my lingerie chest build: the drawers. Just two of eight so far. I cannot believe how long each one is taking! Hopefully I shall speed up as I now understand what is needed.

I did promise to post once I had a few done. I shall not get back to the build for about a month as we are off to the UK for a few weeks.

For those who just want the details, the link is: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/Furniture/B...awers.html

These are compound angled drawers, with a bow front and angled sides. There are flush beaded slips, amongst the details.

For those who just want a progress picture, this is for you ...

(The carcase is Makore, a West African hardwood, while the drawers fronts are Jarrah)

Regards from Perth

sharkbite fittings in compressed air system
Posted by: Demps - 12-27-2015, 06:37 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (5)

make your solder joints while the copper is away from the sensitive areas hang it then make the final connections in the places it does not matter as much.

otherwise the only experience I have with sharkbite is in conjunction with pex tubing I used for a couple of extension runs I did with my compressor in my shop addition It has worked flawlessly

  Status of Sketchup
Posted by: Cecil - 12-27-2015, 06:12 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (2)

I believe sketchup make is the only free version now. I'm not too familiar with it but it's easy to see they have been working towards being a competition to autodesk, solid works, chief architect and rhino.

I use Autocad for 2d and I prefer rhino for 3d over solid works. Chief architect is awesome for house and building drawings. You can draw up a house in an hour with most all of the systems drawn in and rendering 3d views is child's play it's so easy and looks great.

Best glue for a big mitered frame.
Posted by: Tony (Charleston WV) - 12-27-2015, 05:57 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (4)

Don't miter it. Use mortise and tenon joints and you won't need to worry about the glue. If you really need a mitered look, veneer your mortise and tenon frame and miter the veneer corners.
