Something I just learned tonight at the turning club meeting

How can a business like theirs do things unethical like that and still feel good about them selves?

I am going to send them a message tomorrow and tell them what I think of their underhanded move.

"Feel good about themselves"? They are looking at the bottom line. Look at all that money they saved in actually developing a product. Feeling good is an individual thing, very few corporations have a conscious.

  M/T using router
Posted by: weelis - 01-12-2016, 10:11 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (6)

ShopNotes issue #64, page 14. I've been using that jig for years and love it. PM me if you need details.

I recommend a plunge router powerful enough to handle a 1/2" collet and a 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" spiral up bit.

try a 10-24 or an m 5 bolt for fit I know you want a capture bolt but first you need to find something that fits I know 80/20 sells m5 tee nuts but you may have to modify them for the slot

I need recommendations for a drill press.
Posted by: BigD - 01-12-2016, 09:12 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (10)

I've had the Delta 18-900L for four years and have been very happy with it. Good fit and finish and lots of cool features. It has stepped pulley speed changes, but they've made it much easier to make the change than most.

I haven't heard any complaints about this drill press from other forum members. However, Delta has developed a bad reputation for parts availability since the last ownership change. I think (hope) that is changing, as I ordered trunions For a Delta BS a few months ago, and they came very quickly. I would definitely buy this drill press again.

  It's Snowblower Season

Geez, John, one would figure all the work you did last year would have been enough where you wouldn't need it this year.

That's what I'm counting on having done similar. Last two years I've run more gas through mine than the previous 7 I've owned it...more than 20 gallon a quart at a time.

Sorry things didn't go better. Hoping tomorrow is a "flat free day" for you.

adding storage under a Scandinavian-style bench

Eric, unless I don't understand the type bench you are referencing I don't see why you can't build a cabinet to slip into the space between the top apron and the stretchers. Basically it sits on the stretchers. I've seen several of these in mags and I know that Woodsmith has featured these in a couple issues. Ken

  Thoughts on this Lumber?
Posted by: Strokes77 - 01-12-2016, 06:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (8)

Have you got a metal detector? I'd be leery of lumber used to crate machine parts, too much chance of buried metal, grease, or other contamination.

Tricks to quiet a roller chain
Posted by: gmcman - 01-12-2016, 04:57 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (5)

Are you sure it's the chain making the noise and not one of the idler bearings or auger bearing? Hard to tell from the video, but your sprockets appear to be OK, e.g. no hooking in teeth. With the chain laying straight out, how much slack is in the overall length meaning first push end of chain to middle then pull out.

If you have more than 1/2" of overall slack chain is pretty worn and could stand replacement especially if it's the original chain. A model 37A snow thrower has some years on it.

If bearings are all OK, and chain is not worn, try some Chain & Cable lubricant versus just oil. C&C lube is heavier bodied has graphite to better cling and lubricate. Deere sells it or at your local Farm Supply store.
