Resetting miter gauge square on Harvey sliding table?
Posted by: JDuke - 09-05-2023, 09:29 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

Anyone have any videos or tips for resetting the miter gauge to square on the Harvey or Sawstop sliding tables?

I know someone has had to find a short cut to getting this thing realigned.

Thanks I’m advance
Duke

  New shop moving along
Posted by: Bryan F. - 09-03-2023, 09:48 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (5)

After several years of watching my tools gather dust in the garage, I've started on a dedicated shop for woodworking.  Its a 12 x 22 building, a little bigger than the 10 x 20 garage bay I had.  Wiring is done, walls are finished, waiting on the ceiling.  Put down 3/4" White Oak form a nearby mill.  They called it "Tavern Grade"  a lot of defects and color variations, but it was $0.99/ SF.   I figured on 20% waste and had enough left to use for a baseboard.  Sealed it with BLO/Poly not really trying for a pretty finish it will get abused.  Think I'm going to do some kind of T&G ceiling don't know if it will be store bought or DIY.  The boy and I got my dust collector moved yesterday, I installed it myself 15 years ago, was sure nice to have some help this time.

I've got a Delta DJ20 jointer to move in and a Sawstop PCS to purchase.  Once they are in place I'll start figuring out my collector piping.

  screening
Posted by: varkpilot - 09-03-2023, 03:02 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (6)

porch screens are 3ft x 6ft,
three frames need new screens that have held up well given that it's on northside of house and NH does have a fondness for nor'easters!
always used aluminum but wondered if fiberglass is better.
google'd and found each has its advantage & disadvantage.

your thoughts????

  Easiest, fastest finish?
Posted by: Gary G™ - 09-03-2023, 11:09 AM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (3)

In case a finisher doesn’t venture downstairs….

Installed a pine T&G wall running horizontally in a public building.
Mrs G is going to finish it today after I tell her what to use.
No stain.
Only available source for finish is local HD.

The question is will a Water-based poly need a seal-coat?
I know pine can blotch, but if there’s no stain—only a clear WB Poly—is blotching a concern?

  Forrest Blade Sharpening
Posted by: Blaine - 09-03-2023, 10:32 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (6)

I need to get a Forrest tablesaw blade sharpened and plan to send it to them.

How do you package the blade to send it to them?  How is payment arranged?

Their website is pretty good, but I'm unclear how they get the CC number.

Thanks,

  Saturday Blue Light Special..Block Plane
Posted by: Timberwolf - 09-02-2023, 06:27 PM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - Replies (3)

Here is a hard {if not impossible} to find Diamond Edge low angle block plane sold by Norville Shapley Hardware Company out of St.Louis IIRC.. They went out of business during the Great Depression.. It is a quality tool and in excellent condition, made by Ohio Tool Company and sold under Shapley's brand... I could be wrong on the manufacturer...{Admiral may know}. .Has a nickel plated cap iron 95%, 100% japanning, full length blade and an adjust adjustable mouth...It is in fine condition..I have had it as part of my personal collection for about 40 years. I am selling it for sixty dollars including shipping...U.S. Sale only..Personal check from woodnetters is fine if I know you, or USPS Money order.... Money refunded less shipping if you do not like this plane for any reason or no reason. Pms are on..First “I'll take it” is the winner...Thanks for looking,

  Bandsaw Blades
Posted by: Bill Holt - 09-02-2023, 05:26 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (3)

It's been a few years since I ordered bandsaw blades.  The company I ordered from no longer exist.  The majority of use is for bowl blanks and I like the 3/8" 3TPI.  My saw is 18" and requires 133" bands.
Questions:
    1.  What is Raker Hook?
    2.  Is Alternate Set sufficient?
    3.  Who do you use?
