Overheard Conversation between Two Kids |

Background: my brother and I were assembling/rebuilding a big swing set for a mutual friend. We had various construction tools lying around.
The conversation is between my daughter and our friend's son, both about 7/8 years old.
Him: [pointing to circular saw] I like THAT saw!
Her: I have my own hand saw.
Him: But that's a lot slower.
Her: No, not if you do it right!
I think my daughter has been listening to me more than I think. I've created a hand-tool snob!

Considering a new furnace...looking for advice/recs |

I upgraded my home's gas furnace from an 80% efficiency to a 95% single stage gas valve w/variable drive blower and A/C unit from 12 to 14.5 SEER. The home is very well built and insulated so I was able to drive my heating costs down by a fairly large amount monthly in comparison year over year. The additional expense of these units will create a savings payback to be measured in years. Meanwhile, the home's air temperature is much more comfortable and monthly energy usage is way down even considering warmer winter/cooler summer thermostat settings than usual.
If moving soon, you will not get back any savings versus the expense nor will you see any increase in home value. Having any new furnace might help in a home buyer's perceived value of your property over another and make selling it easier. I can't see any justification to install a dual zone HVAC system in a 1400 sq/ft home. You might have a air balance problem that could be easily addressed.

Amazon Prime vs |

Agreed. Hartville, CPO Outlets, and Coastal Tool are three places I always check and compare to Amazon. The obvious question that comes up besides shipping is whether the pricing is the same for the same item. Is the net cost the same or different when you factor in both price and shipping?

Help with Avonite (aka Corian) |

The two part adhesive recomended by Avonite and you will need a gun and those are not cheap. Or i guess you could mix the glue by hand if you can find a way to dispense it. I worked solid surface sometimes at a shop i used to work for. Why buy expensive bits for one 5' top. The only bit i will say you do need is the angled(whatever profile you want) sink bit.
I would not cheap out and use a drop in sink on a solid surface top.
