My preference is the Pro-Forme hollowers.

  Band saw resaaw problems
Posted by: YSU65 - 12-02-2015, 01:20 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (8)

Is the blade dead??

could be. how much use has it seen? what brand is it?

Could also be under tensioned (a fairly common occurrence)

don't believe the tensioner on the back of the saw, they tend to lie, and I would skip the flutter method as well.

You need more tension not more ways to prove you do not have enough

I second the motion.

It is a bit steep to join, and I haven't yet been able to attend any events, but they have a great e-magazine and a decent, though often quiet, forum with some real craftsmen contributing.

Yep. No threaded hole. You don't need the threads.

Need some suggestions; I think I need a rip saw
Posted by: bennybmn - 12-02-2015, 09:52 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (8)

I made a couple about 2 years ago, cut them with a pull saw and had exactly that tracking issue even though I scored the cuts... ended up with a curved book stand.

It kind of worked out in the end for my purposes, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to present them to anyone as "fine woodworking."

I wanted my skinniest saw for the finest kerf, but I suspect a stiffer plate would have mitigated the problem at the expense of kerf width. Curious if anyone has found a good balance?

Get whatever you want. Virtually all natural gas ranges can be bought with a conversion kit.

  Hanging a cabinet on drywall
Posted by: johndi - 12-02-2015, 05:23 AM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (6)

are you going to be able to reach that cabinet without a ladder? if not, is it really worth it?

to hang the cabinet use a french cleat. you know there are studs at each corner of that stairwell. make the cleat the full width of the stairwell and attach it at the corners. the other half of the cleat goes on the back of the cabinet, then just lift it up and set it on the cleat. you will need a furring strip at the bottom of the cabinet to account for the thickness of the cleat.

  Alternative to Waterlox in California
Posted by: Steve Soldo - 12-02-2015, 01:47 AM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (4)

McFeeleys has Crystalac for ~$55/gallon and Amazon has GF topcoats for $22 to $30/quart. Either are far super to waterlox IMHO. McFeeleys recently had Cryastalac on sale at a 30% discount.
