Dye Sources? |

JE Moser dyes are good (woodworker's supply) as well as the LV dyes. I've used more of them (LV) than the others. But the ones I've used are all mostly the common earth tone colors.

DT challenge - help needed |

Nice! Try using your dovetail saw to mark the pins. Set it in the kerf and drag it back across the end grain of the pin board a couple of times. I took a dovetail class from St. Roy one time, and he had us mark the pins that way.

Sub Panel QUestion? |

You need both a grounding electrode system (2 ground rods typically), PLUS an equipment grounding conductor run back to the main panel. 3-conductor feeders to outbuildings are no longer allowed, unless your town is on a pretty old Code cycle.
I also couldn't see the insulation code, but it may not be legal inside your dwelling unit.

Anyone need a miter box? |

Any of you from the Cleveland area, looking for what looks like a very decent MF miter box, there is one for sale at "HGR Equipment" in Cleveland (check their website), for the price of $29.00.
I have no connection with HGR, but regularly look over their website for used metal working equipment that I could use. If you visit their physical location, it is absolutely huge-and you'll find stuff you didn't know you need until you're there!

RIT dye for wood? |

I've been looking at the very same thing. I'll be interested to read your observations. I imagine light fastness is a major consideration. RIT is definitely attractive from a price perspective. Writing that last sentence also gives me one more thought. I wonder how concentrated it is. It isn't really a bargain if the concentration is low and the competition (more expensive) has high concentration.

Makita BO4510 palm sander |

I think they do, or did at one point.
I have a palm sander, but I normally have a folded up brown paper bag on it instead of sandpaper - it works well as a buffer that way.
I use one of the 8 hole Random orbital sanders for most jobs.

I hope you understand that doesn't generate any vacuum. You still need either a venturi or a diaphragm pump to attach it to. Not to mention the vacuum chuck itself.
