  Thee Woodworking show Columbus Ohio
Posted by: Steve N - 01-16-2016, 05:15 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (4)

I have skipped it the past couple years, in favor of hitting Woodwerks expo. I'm about an hour north and west. I would like to go this year, it will likely be on Saturday though.

I have the 50", 36" and 24". All work great. I was looking to buy the 99" size and did a Google search. Amazon has it for about $125, shipped. I found it at Grizzly, on sale for $69.95 plus shipping, for a total of $81.94. Just thought I'd share.

Try searching company names like Heinrich or Wahlstrom.

You might also want to looks at these two topics from the OWWM forums.

  purchase dowel online
Posted by: DirectCedar - 01-16-2016, 03:36 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (4)

Can you make your own ? I've made shorter lengths easily on a router table. All you need is a piece of oak, 5/8" square, about 8" longer than the actual length of dowel needed and a 5/16" R , round over bit. It actually works really well.

  WW Show - Microfence
Posted by: Mr Eddie - 01-16-2016, 03:34 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

I bought one several years ago, and it was straight up on the basic fence, but he was doing great discounts on accessories. This had to be 7 maybe 8 years ago though.

If you have never done a face to face demo, and you can see the logic in a guide base this exact, don't bring any money if you don't want one

Is there a real difference between Watco Danish oil and Watco teak oil
Posted by: Woodjets - 01-16-2016, 03:29 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (3)

In the Feb, 2015 issue pf PWW Flexner wrote an article titled "Teak Oil, the Oil That Doesn't Exist". In that article he described what each brand was...as either from the manufacturer or "his best guess". The Watco product he identifies as an oil/varnish blend. Watco Danish Oil has been described both as a wiping varnish and an oil/varnish blend (at different time frames, maybe they changed it from one to the other). In any case, it doesn't sound to me like there's any difference between them (based on your testimony, and Bob's article) and you can choose either with the same results. ( at Watco!)

Recommendations for an 8" low speed grinder
Posted by: sniper - 01-16-2016, 10:16 AM - Forum: Woodturning - Replies (8)

Get the Rikon.

Most problems with grinders are caused by the wheels. Either the center bushings aren't true or the wheel is out of balance. I put the CBN wheels on my Woodcraft house brand grinder and I don't even have it bolted down anymore. It just sits on my bench and runs as smooth as can be.

  What over WB satin enamel?

>>>> clear durable protective coat over it

Why? A clear coat is no more durable than the paint. Paint is just a clear coat with lots of colorant added. A clear coat adds no additional protection. If you want some additional protection, add another coat of your paint.
