For those that have (or will have ) a CV1800, or anyone....
Posted by: fredhargis - 01-17-2016, 07:40 AM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (2)

I see the January special on where the LH version with a lot of extra stuff is $2000. Given I'll be moving this spring I thought I may go ahead and upgrade my much hated Oneida to the CV for the new shop to be. Just how good is this deal? I haven't followed the CV pricing for some time and at glance this appears to be a pretty good deal. ( Oneida to be listed in S&S if'n I do this).

  Notes from the newbie's shop

We never had kids, so I can't be the voice of full understanding, but perhaps a ground rule where Mommy has to check to see if it's ok to go out when Daddy is playing with his toys???

Beyond the near miss, it looks like you are kicking butt on getting that huge pile organized. From there it is just making a plan and planning that work.

Never asked, what kind of RN? You should be used to that make a plan, and work it thing

  LED Lighting / Electronics Question

P.S. This light appears to be configured to have four sets of 60 LEDs each wired in series. So 240 LEDs total.

Two problems with aluminum chips -- they are SHARP and they are HOT.

Which means they stick into the plastic.

Keep brushing and blowing

  Rockwell 37-315 fence support details?
Posted by: Wild Turkey - 01-16-2016, 08:42 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (5)

Click on the the following link below, select jointers from the filter drop down and then scroll down till you find 37-315 and down load the manual. There might be manuals specific to the fence alone.

Theoretically there should be a slight advantage for the two layer system because of the added interface between the two layers. Practically, I doubt it's measurable.

  Picked finish on red oak
Posted by: NickNC - 01-16-2016, 07:47 PM - Forum: Finishing - Replies (3)

If by pickled finish you mean that look where you can see the wood grain, but it has a whitish material wiped on, I did lots of that back in the 80's. The company I started with did this type of thing, and I later did it for my own business.
At the time we were using nitrocellulose lacquer.
To make the whitewash we used UTC colors mixed in paint thinner. We could used this as a stain on bare wood. It was more common for us to use it as a glaze over the sealer coat. The topcoats would seal it in. We could spread it around and distribute it into the cracks, etc., which was popular for that look.
The UTC color we used was titanium dioxide.

ETS 150/3 or the new brushless model. The 150/3 works great for me.

Sorry Arlin I have no experience with them. But, you might check brands/reviews of the ones your interested in on some of the larger sporting goods retailers like cabellas or bass pro shops.
