When a garage sale lists TOOLS 3 times... - bandit571 - 07-12-2025

Means I WILL be there when they open up...and I even went back on the second day of the sale....spent the same amount both days....$5

Day #1..
[attachment=55185]
Dollar each?   Pre-stanley North Bros. ( BTW, that No. 41 had all 10 bits inside the handle) and a Saw file with a handle....that brown plastic box?
[attachment=55186]
A Craftsman Router bit set...also $1....final part of day #1?
[attachment=55187]
Just another #4 Smooth Plane?   Not exactly..
[attachment=55188]
A Shelton No. 9  with zero rust, no pitting to remove, factory edge on the iron..also $1

Day #2...only 4 items, this time...and $2 was spent on a Freezer Baggie of saw blades...
[attachment=55189]
And...
[attachment=55190]
"Ames"?   "Rinks"?  Sears?   I worked in a Rinks store, after I got back home in 1972...when one had to wear a shirt and a tie...

The rest of the $5 was these 3 items...
[attachment=55191]
Stanley No. H1293, 9" Torpedo Level. in Walnut...
[attachment=55192]
A Swanson Speed Square ( never been used?)
And for the remaining $1?
[attachment=55193]
A Stanley No. 400 ( might be a Type 2"?) Picture Framer's Vise...

Not too bad of a two day Raid?

Looks like a great haul. Not familiar with the Shelton. Looks like a good one.

The Shelton No. 9 came along after Stanley took over.   Maybe just after 1962?   When Stanley did away with the infamous Whale Tail Lateral adjusters
Still has a Factory edge on the iron, BTW...

The owner kept everything oiled up, and ready to go....there wasn't any real rust buckets in the entire sale.

4 tables of tools ......
