It just amazes me what people will throw away.... - bpatters69 - 06-06-2025

I get it. They don't want it junking up their house but solid 3/4" Maple or is it Cherry?

The top is a bit funky...maybe this was a hobbyist...no one from here obviously....
Smile

The pieces are not matched well and the joints are a bit too obvious.

Its a little busy for a table. Probably why they junked it.

It's definitely no heirloom, but there is some good wood in there.  Looks like cherry, but no way to know for sure until you sand or cut it.

It looks like if they took a little time on ordering the boards, it could have been a lot nicer.

Thanks for the help on wood ID. I am going to cut it down to planks and I will re-post a few pictures without the stain and heavy top coat.

I would love to have that for us.  Glue it up for segmented turning or bowl from a board or whatever.

I could be talked into giving away the legs. I don't turn and I doubt I will do anything with them.

I am about 90% sure its Cherry.

I cut down the boards as you can see in the photos. Many of them were pretty warped. I am probably going to have to joint and then plane them down to 1/2" or maybe a bit more. It will still be nice for boxes.

The maker is Pennsylvania House Furniture. Supposedly decent stuff. I still cannot get over how the top was assembled. Again, not to be mean but not my taste.

What's a cut or jointed edge or face look like?  That piece with the Pennsylvania House logo on it looks like some plain white wood that's been shot with a toner.

Great photos.

My favorite use for salvaged furniture lumber is drawer sides and backs.  Interior web frames is another good use if the thickness is there.  Glue lines and exposed sapwood can make for an awkward looking exposed surface.
