Miter Gauge Compare - Rick_B - 05-17-2025 Good afternoon - I"m looking for some hands experienced folks who can compare the Incra 1000SE to the Jessum 07150 miter gauges. If one had both and wanted to slim the herd which one should he keep? Rick RE: Miter Gauge Compare - stav - 05-17-2025 I think the Woodwisperer did reviews of them. RE: Miter Gauge Compare - R Clark - 05-18-2025 Yes, indeed, Wood Whisperer did a review of many miter gauges and the Incra 100SE and the Jessem 07150 were on that list. Here's a Link to the review. The review is nearly an hour long, but you can jump to what you want to see. The "minute markers" are in the comments. I have the 100SE, but have never used the Jessem, and so I can't compare the two. However, I will say that the Incra is rugged and repeatable success is great on this unit. Having one fall off the edge of the workbench is not a test I'd recommend, but it's happened to me twice over the past 17+ years that I've had that gauge. Other than some scratches, no issues either time. RE: Miter Gauge Compare - JDuke - 05-18-2025 I haven’t used the Jessem but I do have the incra 1000 and it would be one of the first thing replaced even at full price if I were forced to rebuild a shop for any reason. I even use it turned backwards in the miter slot to set up the fence on the Harvey sliding table on my Sawstop. RE: Miter Gauge Compare - Rick_B - 05-18-2025 So I watched one review on YouTube that compared the incra and jessum and harvey. They Incra came in last. I have an incra 1000SE and now have a new Jessum. I unpacked the Jessum this morning and I have to say it seems to be much better built than the incra and has a excellent fit and finish. The one apparent downside is the incra has a miter range of 0 to 90 degrees and the jessum only has 0 to 45 degrees. The reviewer felt that greater than 45 degrees was not a significant factor - but I'm curious how often folks would use a grater than 45 setting - I can't remember ever going over 45 but its one of those "better to have and not need than to need and not have" The reviewer also felt that the adjustments on the incra were a bit clunky - require a tool for most changes. That has frustrated me in the past when using my incra. I'm going to watch the woodwisperer review later today but right now I'm leaning towards keeping the jessum. However at $379 dollars I doubt I would buy one. Thoughts on the miter range? Rick RE: Miter Gauge Compare - kurt18947 - 05-18-2025 I have the Incra 1000 (not the SE) and it seems as accurate as I am. Never used the Jessem to be able to compare them. As for the tool required for the Incra, I bought a ball end allen wrench and hold it on the miter gauge with one of the strong magnets. That way I can always find it. RE: Miter Gauge Compare - CARYinWA - 05-18-2025 I never use the Jessem. I had an Incra 1000HD and have since converted it to a 1000SE due to bumping the head and reforming the indent on the head of the 1000HD. The HD has too many indents and they are too small causing issues. I love the 1000SE. I have converted the Incra to toolless using levers and thumb screws. I haven't used that hex driver in years. The Jessem looks nice. I have other Jessem stuff and no doubt that it is quality. Cost is a little crazy though. It's good that Jessem moved away from the threaded pin to lock the angles. I agree the cost is way high. If I had no miter gauge and was looking to buy it would be the incra because of cost.. I have an incra and was fortunate enough to win the Jessum in a raffle so I'm trying to decide which to keep. The only remaining question to me is the limited miter range +- 45 degrees so I'm still wondering how big an issue that would really be. Rick RE: Miter Gauge Compare - CARYinWA - 05-18-2025 I think I used an angle past 45 for a flag case. Past that I don't think I have used much past 45. Don't miter saws go a little past 45. Something like 50 or 60? I have found 45 tilt on the table saw limiting. I would think 90 degree on the miter gauge to be slightly over kill but 45 to be slightly limiting. RE: Miter Gauge Compare - JDuke - 05-18-2025 I also converted my incra to tool less and wouldn’t go back |
