Plans for wall hanging cabinet - Arlin Eastman - 05-16-2025
Does anyone have a nice wall set up for say a #1 -#6 and a few saws that I can build easy plans. I know I can not turn one.

Have a link? Also will that hold the planes and other hand tools and a few dovetail saws and box saws?
Do I need one that has depth and width to it to hold them?

I do not know buddy which is why I am asking everyone for help. For me it needs to be easy but strong and easy to put on a wall so I can use the tools that are mostly needed.
I guess the most I use is a #2, #3, block plane, angle finder, square, pencils, tape measure, my 2 lawyers dovetail saw and other dovetail saw with my lee valley box saw he gave me, I am thinking 4 or 5 chisels 1/4 to 1/2, compass gauge, rasp or two, awl, saw file or two, and do not know what else.
I think having the saw file set up close at hand would encourage me to sharpen more like I do for turning. Hard to cut work either turning or sawing if tools are dull. In saying that I would need an easy to get to stones for sharpening plane blades and chisels so a set up for that would be good too except not in the cabinet I am thinking

Arlin, I don't have plans, but I would just layout the tools you want , and just keep rearranging until you have them laid out in the order you want. Then just build a box large enough to fit, with some space left over for a few additions, cut in half and add a piano hinge . I screwed most of the holders in, so I could reposition them as I added other tools.

Do believe barryvabeach is spot on. The only factor I will add is first measure the available wall space, then design the box to fit.
