Kreg Jig screw question - Randy C - 03-08-2025

I am building a workbench where a yellow pine 2 by 4 will need to be screwed to a red oak 2 by 4. I have previously used a Jig to attach pine  2 by 4 lumber and I recall using a course screw because the wood is relatively soft. Do they make a fine screw for use on hardwoods like oak?

Thanks

Yes, they do make fine-thread pocket hole screws specifically for hardwoods like red oak. Fine-thread screws are better suited for hardwoods because they grip the dense fibers more effectively and reduce the risk of splitting.
