This weeks finshed saws - RonB1957 - 01-30-2025 Ok so I have been on a role in the little shop trying to clear out MORE unfinished saw blanks, etc.. First up my personal 17ppi 12" x canted 2" x 0.020" dovetail with mother of pearl inlay and infused maple burl. ![]() ![]() Next another 16ppi triple loop in walnut ![]() ![]() Finally a 16" x 4" x 0.025" tenon saw in figured maple 11ppi rip ![]() ![]() Lastly an open dovetail for a very patient customer ![]() ![]() It's been a busy week, but progress finally made clearing out those unsung songs hiding in work bench drawers. Just one drawer left. ( I think) Almost time to start working on this old shack again. Oye Vey. Well it seems I forgot one last night. I told you it's been a long week. ![]() So here is a 12" x 3" carcass saw filed 14ppi x 15* rake x 25* fleam in walnut. I may clip off the toe at some point as this style was meant to look more traditional. ![]() ![]() ![]() And that is that for a long while. I owe, I owe, it's back to work I go. RE: This weeks finshed saws - Mainelywoodworking - 01-31-2025 Good lord, that triple loop walnut handle saw is gorgeous! I just realised you run two lines down the back, that meets up with 3 "bumps" at the end. Incredible attention to detail and design. How is that one filed? Good afternoon.I have been filing most of my dovetail saws at 15 or 16ppi for years. Seems to be a good number for most, but I occasionally file them 17ppi. My personal saws to up to 18 ppi but I generally only filed 18,19,and 20ppi on my gent saws. ( I no longer make ) Really just depends on preferred wood thickness and what I am cutting. 17, 18, and 19 will certainly not win any races and they are hard on the eye balls. Especially these days, even with magnifiers. ![]() RE: This weeks finshed saws - professore - 01-31-2025 Certainly beautiful saws. I can't help but feel that any of your saws in the hands of a woodworker would produce elegant work. Frank S in IA RE: This weeks finshed saws - stav - 01-31-2025 Wow! That is an amazing set of saws. |
