As I recall, all the GE models got good reviews from Consumer Reports. There were differences in features, but all got good reviews.

I don't know what kind of range you have but mine is a black glass range top and the only thing that the light shows up are the pots and pans that are placed on the range.

I have never liked OTR microwaves for reasons other then the noise, lighting and venting. Height and access can be an issue also. Reaching over a hot pot to get things out of a microwave can be problematic. Any possibility of retrofitting an opening in a base or pantry cabinet for either a microwave drawer, counter-top microwave or microwave built in with trim kit?
We have a standard counter top microwave built into a wall cabinet with a shelf that extends out to support the front. The cabinet it wide enough that we also have our toaster in there. It is cleaner and neater than I may have made it sound.
Just some thoughts.
