If you are using the same ones, I guess you could put solid pieces along the side and then move it back and just screw into those new pieces.

Also, the ones I am using are full extension.  Moving back an inch would negate the full extension part.

Sounds like a lot of work for gaining one inch.

thanks.
I'm using the Tandem 563H Undermount slides, if that matters.

Yeah, I'm aware that I would lose 1" of the full extension, but that really doesn't seem like it would be an issue.

The face-framed cabinets will already be built to accommodate side mounting these drawer slides, so setting the drawer slide back 1 1/8" is no more trouble than setting them back just 1/8th and a 22" deep drawer box is no more work to make than a 21". I just need to glue in a 1" spacer to set the mounting clips at the correct spacing under the drawer box.

So the fair question is why bother? I'm just like that. There's dead space behind the drawer and I want to use some of it for more storage space if I can.

Everything looks like the idea will work, but I will test one out before committing to making all of the drawers at 22" deep.

Why don’t you just use a slide that comes in 22” instead of re-inventing several wheels if that’s most important to you ?

Fulterer makes 22” I believe.

I went with Blum under mount slides, which jump from 21 to 24”. No 22” option that I found.

Why not just delete the back tabs with a Dremel? That would work, no?

Problem OP is having is shown in photo below. These aren't like normal side mount slides. It's the mechanisms in front and tabs in back that lock you in to a specific draw length. But I think the back tabs are just lateral support and you wouldn't lose much by hacking them out. I think that would be easier than fitting in a small strip to the front to accept the front mechanisms.

I just made my draws 21" but OP is right that adds up to a lot of wasted space. The Blum slides are the bees knees, you'll love them and the extra inch you lose in 'full extension' will not be a problem.

When cutting them off you lose the vertical adjustment at the back,  and hard to engage the locks at the front by not being able to push against anything.  Roly

I understand how to mount the slides. I don't think that removing that tab would save time/effort over just adding a 1" spacer in the front and I'd be concerned that removing it would compromises the stability of the drawer. It seems that removing the pin would allow the rear of the drawer to lift/tip. Since the slide is holding the weight of the drawer, tipping is probably unlikely - but in my house unlikely and unpleasant things happen with frequency. Please don't make me explain.

Got it. It's been a minute since I messed with these but I see what you're getting at and agree your idea would work, and also agree that the extra draw space would be worth it.
