RE: Aluminum decking vs the million other options - bsheffer - 04-24-2025 Pressure treated/no coating- 104 degrees Aluminum Powder coated decking 106 degrees for darkest color and 101 for lightest color PVC trim 94 degrees Probably 70 degrees outside and full sun. Light breeze RE: Aluminum decking vs the million other options - OneStaple - 04-24-2025 That's great info. Always useful to do a side by side experiment. Was the PVC trim just white? Or something brown mimicking a composite decking? When you talked to the company, did you get any info on durability of the powder coat? I wonder if it starts to wear through in common walking paths or where a chair is pushed in and out after 5-10 years. PVC was plain vanilla white. The manufacturer said they encourage people to take a hammer to it and see what happens. Of course, time is the only test. We are pretty wide open with color and they do make some dark wood grain products but I think I will go with the light gray so if the finish does fail, it will not be as obvious. I know from other powder coated products I have had, they seem incredibly strong but I am not walking on any of them. The big thing I am after is to have the area underneath dry and from the way this stuff fits together, I just cannot see how any water would get underneath.. The manufacturer is supposedly getting me some reference customers RE: Aluminum decking vs the million other options - tomsteve - 04-25-2025 something ya might be able to do if find homeowners with it installed near you and see how they like it. see what their pros and cons are of it |
