Yes, the glue joints, as I showed in the photo. They were glued with System 3, T-88 epoxy. Apparently, the seasonal expansion/contraction exceeded the ability of the glue to hold the joints together. A more elastic epoxy like West Systems G-Flex might have worked better, but I decided it was time to try something new. John RE: Used every clamp - Tapper - 06-01-2024 Beautiful work, yet again John! John RE: Used every clamp - museumguy - 06-02-2024 Agreed. Fantastic job. Looks amazing. RE: Used every clamp - iclark - 06-04-2024 Beautiful work. Thanks, especially, for the progress pictures. Just in devil's advocate mode: are you sure that the ring diameter of the rabbit will be larger than the glass when it the wood reaches its greatest shrinkage? If you look at the original ring, can you see anywhere that the glass settled into the wood? RE: Used every clamp - jteneyck - 06-04-2024 (06-04-2024, 05:11 PM)iclark Wrote: Beautiful work. Thanks, especially, for the progress pictures. Thanks. As far as I know, the glass was never tight in the first ring whenever I used the table. The rabbett of the new ring actually is slightly larger so I don't expect it will pull into the glass either. But you never know about these things unless you get it wrong. Then it's pretty obvious, like thinking those tenons in the first ring would be adequate. Great looking project and an impressive amount of work. RE: Used every clamp - Patsfan - 06-13-2024 Really nice work. Penofin stands up well. I assume you used that on the original? RE: Used every clamp - fishhh4 - 06-14-2024 Good looking job John. Take it from a hack that knows nice work when he sees it. RE: Used every clamp - iublue - 06-14-2024 Great looking table!
