However you decide to do it, make sure you put the hanldle in the hatchet the right way.The one in the photo is backwards.

I would drill and tap a hole from the side of the blade and run a screw from the back of the block and plug it. I would cut a new handle using 2 pieces and route a channel in it. I would also take an angle grinder and grind a channel along the top of the in the top of the axe and bury the wire and epoxy it in place so you don't see it
