What makes you say that a mid to late 80's Delta jointer is from the "junk tool era"? That is a fine 6" jointer with good castings and solid engineering that is far superior to the early Grizzly machines with their poor quality control and poor castings.

Delta. If you can hold out for an 8" or bigger you may want to wait. Those 2 extra inches make a huge difference.

Greg, you're being tactfully gracious :-)
The Delta jointer is a 37-220, Made in USA. True, the stand is a later version that doesn't have quite the mass that the older stands have, but the jointer is still pretty much the same machine that came out in the 60s or 50s.

Follow that badging, it will tell you what you ask. The look of that jointer was essentially unchanged from the 50's, but it was heavily changed in many ways through those years. You are talking about this badging if you want the good ones.

If those are the three options, I would wait.
The craftsman wouldnt even be an option, and the other two look ridden hard for the asking price.
Jointers arent unicorns, there is always good ones.....just be patient.
